Aquarius Full Moon/Eclipse August 7: Channeling Our Inner Fire

Howling_at_the_Moon_in_Mississauga

On August 7th at 11:11am PST, we will experience the Aquarius full moon /partial eclipse. The chart for the lunar eclipse places Mars alongside the Sun in Leo in the 10th house, and the moon in Aquarius in the 4th house. The 10th house is associated with one’s career, public reputation and worldly status. It represents who we are in the world, our successes and our failures. While the 4th house is associated with our home, family and roots; it is personal and represents our deepest feelings.

With the eclipse straddling these two houses, emphasis is placed on these parts of our lives. We may find ourselves facing issues of courage, as this eclipse challenges our bravery. As well as issues related to one’s ego and the way one feels about how they are viewed by others, as Leo encourages us to put our boldest self forward for the world to see.

With the Sun, associated with our sense of self and purpose, and Mars planet of action, desire and drive, occupying the 10th house with courageous Leo on the cusp, it is likely we are experiencing changes regarding our career or goals, or the position we hold in the world. Leo, the sign associated with the lion, is strong, brave, creative and confident, and with the Sun here, one may feel the desire to lead, the urge to take charge on certain matters and the ability to tackle tasks that they might normally not feel capable of. Leo urges us to remember the potential of one’s personal power; one’s power to express, to create, to manifest and to grow.

The combination of the Sun and Mars in Leo can lead to egos running high. We may find ourselves or others boasting about successes, while trying to bury failures or hide that which we feel inadequate in. We must recognize that success comes in all shapes and sizes; it also doesn’t necessarily require mastery. It is however necessary to feel a sense of pride over our work and accomplishments; to reward oneself and acknowledge the outcome of one’s dedication. While it can be easy to get caught up in how much further we have to go to reach our goal, or all that we have not yet accomplished, the Sun in Leo evokes a sort of self-appreciation and gratitude; the ability to feel proud of oneself and confident in one’s skill. Many of us are often searching for the light at the end of the tunnel, but the bright, brave, fiery energy of Leo helps to remind us that the light we are in search of comes from within, and has been with us all along. Fueling the flames of our inner fire, allowing us to see our own ability to shine.

With the eclipse straddling Leo and Aquarius, we are reminded of our creative connection to the universe. There is the tendency for bursts of creative insight, for artistic visions and melodies to form and flow easily. We may also find ourselves required or desiring to use our creativity differently, in ways aimed towards one’s’ career or successes, allowing one’s’ inner light to better shine through one’s work and projects, and to feel more connected to the tasks accomplished. Feeling more brave than usual, we may even find ourselves sharing parts of our creative self that have previously been kept hidden with others.

While we are busy keeping our game face on, reaching new heights in our careers, or chasing after new goals or dreams – the moon in the 4th house, suggests it is vital that home feels like a safe space. Whether that means making sure your fridge is stocked and your house de-cluttered, or your mood lights on with your favorite candle lit – make your home a place where you can relax and rejuvenate yourself.

The tension between the Sun in Leo and the Moon in Aquarius may find us feeling torn on many levels. As the Sun in Leo inspires us to shine and be the brightest version of ourselves, the Aquarian moon in the 4th house feels a bit more modest, shy and awkward, begging us to err on the quieter, safer side. Though the Sun encourages us to be bold, we may be too caught up in our own dissatisfaction, as the moon reminds us of goals or plans that we may have had for our younger selves that failed to pan out accordingly, leaving us feeling insufficient. We may also find we are torn between our ego’s need to lead and our ability to work with others as a team; challenging our beliefs and ways of being. For some, it can be helpful to note that while good leadership is essential, some situations are less about one’s specific ability to lead and perform, and more about the ability to work as a pack, for survival. Try to share the stage with others, consider alternative perspectives and do your best not to take things too personally. Hurt egos are usually the first to lash out.

Additionally, this tension may also lead us to explore the connection between our emotional state at home and the face we put on for the others. With the energy of the eclipses (both this Lunar Eclipse and the upcoming Solar Eclipse) weaving its way through all that we endeavor over the next few weeks, we are likely to find ourselves entering a period of transformation, full of new starts, and beginnings, and endings that we may or may not have been expecting. The energy of the eclipses also provides us with just the right combination of energy to manifest whatever our focus touches. Pay attention to your thoughts and that which you occupy your time with. Aim for passionate productivity.

Aquarius is eccentric and quirky, but emotionally, it can feel a bit cold. With the moon here, we may find ourselves feeling a bit emotionally detached. Charged by all the energy in the 10th house, we may find ourselves bringing our work or projects home with us; our thoughts preoccupied with innovative ideas and our hearts fired up with confidence.

Taking a look at the activity happening with the other planets in the chart for the eclipse, we find similar messages of change and transformation on the horizon.

Jupiter in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn form an exact square, from the 1st and 3rd houses. Jupiter is massive, benevolent and magnetic, with the ability to magnify situations, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. Often, however, Jupiter feels like a gift. Pluto is associated with power, destruction and rebirth; it can feel heavy and dark. But ultimately, Pluto comes along to wipe the slate clean, so that way we may begin again.

The tension between Jupiter in the 1st house in peaceful Libra and that of Pluto in the 3rd house in Capricorn, fuse to create the feeling that despite all that Pluto might be working to eliminate and disrupt, we are being gifted with great opportunity. Pluto touches the lowest point in the chart, associated with the deepest parts of ourselves, suggesting that while on the surface we appear to be feeling strong and capable – on a more personal emotional level, we are experiencing a sort of internal “renovation”. As we find ourselves sifting through and detaching ourselves from goals, or ideas, plans and responsibilities that no longer resonate with the person we have become. Though it can be bittersweet to say goodbye to dreams that once defined the person we were and goals that excited our spirits, it is a necessary step to take, if we want to make room for all that we now wish to create. At heart, the blending of Jupiter’s bounteous energy with that of Pluto’s acts as our own personal blessing in disguise.

Meanwhile, Mercury, which is in its pre-retrograde shadow period, is slowly approaching the 11° of Virgo, where it will station retrograde on August 12th. With Mercury moving at close to its slowest speed, it is likely we are beginning to feel the fuzzy-brained, disoriented, backwards energy of the retrograde. However, with Mercury stationing retrograde in the middle of eclipses, the energy may feel a bit more erratic and intense than backwards. While we should be prepared for the typical influences of a retrograde, we should also be prepared for the added flair of the eclipses.

Once retrograde, Mercury will head back through the first part of Virgo; toward Leo, where the Sun and Mars wait for the arrival of the Moon. Once in Leo, the Moon will travel past Mars, forming an exact conjunction, and meet up with the Sun. Thus, giving way to the Leo Solar Eclipse on August 21st.

Cancer Full Moon – 1/12/17

Howling_at_the_Moon_in_Mississauga

Early on the morning of Thursday, January 12, 2017, the Cancer full moon will be exact. At the moment that the moon forms its exact opposition to the Sun, creating what we see on Earth as the full moon, it will also be caught up in a larger, more rare aspect, known as a Grand Cross. A Grand Cross is a tense planetary aspect made up of 4 or more planets, located 90 degrees apart from one another, giving way to 2 sets of oppositions and/or 4 squares.

While full moons tend to trigger emotions by revealing that which has been hidden or brewing beneath the surface, Grand Crosses typically present us with challenges or difficult events that demand we must act or change our ways. The energy of the Grand Cross is an accumulation of built up tension that has had no way to release; pent up energy that we have been repressing while we go about tending to the many things that require our attention, ignoring the calls or whispers from within. Though the goal is for this energy to push us forward, toward something different though still familiar; the method tends to feel a bit more brutal, as the lessons we find ourselves presented with can feel as though we have no choice in the matter but to change and evolve.

With the Sun and Moon, opposing each other in Cancer and Capricorn, and Jupiter and Uranus opposing each other in Libra and Aries, this Grand Cross will highlight a sense of fusion of the Cardinal energies of the sky; emphasizing a need for movement, for change and evolution; but also, a need for the freedom to act and be true to ourselves without judgment or restriction.

The full moon straddles the 2nd and 8th houses, with Cancer and Capricorn on the cusps, respectively. The Moon in Cancer in the 8th house can feel intensely emotional, as the moon is associated with our emotional identity and the 8th house, with the darker aspects of life and self.

We may find ourselves undergoing a period of rebirth, examining the deepest parts of our personal truths, elements of our sexuality and spirituality, as well as the fine line that exists between the two.

Meanwhile, the energy of the Sun tugs on the Moon from the 2nd house, associated with money, stability and self-esteem. With Capricorn on the cusp, and Pluto just a few degrees away from the Sun, there is likely sense of goals and/or financial shifting taking place, as well as a feeling of being “changed” and trying to better understand one’s personal sense of power.

The rest of the Grand Cross action takes place in the 5th and 11th houses, where Uranus in Aries and Jupiter in Libra create the second opposition. Uranus, which has a rather erratic energy to it, is concerned with individuality, invention and pursuing things beyond the status quo. Uranus in headstrong Aries, in the 5th house associated with play, children and release, can feel like the need to do something new or differently. There may be a need to pursue new hobbies, to find a new way to “play” in life and explore your surroundings. As well as the need to break the mold, not just for self-satisfaction, but for release and for the room to grow in the direction of our dreams.

Jupiter is a huge, expansive, healing planet with the ability to magnify that which it touches. It is also associated with luck, a sense of benevolence and spirituality. With Jupiter in Libra, in the 11th house associated with our social circles and sense of community, we are being reminded of the resourcefulness of our friends. Whether it be a shoulder to cry on, the right contact to guide you on your way, or simply someone to validate your feelings or experience, there is a good chance that many of the answers being sought after can be found within the realm of ones social circle. With all that is conflicting within, there exists great ability to find healing in those we surround ourselves with.

Sagittarius Full Moon & Mercury Direct: Searching the Soul

moon stars

On Friday, May 20, the Sun begins its journey through Gemini, leaving Venus and Mercury retrograde in Taurus. With the Sun leaving the calm, earthy sign of the bull and entering the flighty, energetic realm of the twins, we may notice a change in the way in which we process information, leaving the sensual, physical ways of Taurus, [ think: touch, closeness, dependability] for the mentally agile ways of Gemini, [think: stimulating conversation, intellect, new ideas]. The shift in Solar energy is just the beginning of several celestial events peaking this weekend, as we experience the Sagittarius full moon on Saturday and Mercury stationing direct on Sunday!

Sagittarius Full Moon

The full moon is exact at 2:15 pm PST on Saturday the 21st of May in the very first degree of Sagittarius and forms a conjunction to Mars retrograde, in the second degree of Sagittarius, still a few degrees away from its re-entrance to Scorpio. Meanwhile, just a few degrees away from the Sun, is Venus, still in Taurus, but close enough to join in on the energy of the opposition straddling the 3rd and 9th houses. The 3rd, associated with our perceived environment, communication, our siblings and our neighbors; the 9th associated with traveling, education, setting goals and spiritual attainment.

As the moon and mars meet up for their conjunction, there may be a feeling of emotionally moving backwards or feeling confused about recent “emotionally” or passion fueled decisions. The moon being so close to Mars retrograde in Sagittarius, can feel a bit emotionally repressed. There may be a feeling of not being able to get what you want, leading to borderline childish reactions. Try to be considerate. Considerate of others, but also considerate of yourself; of your behavior and how your actions influence your perception of your environment.

The Sun in Gemini, merging its energy with that of Venus a few degrees away in Taurus, will likely have us aligning ourselves with our values, or experience a sense of feeling “defined” by what you have. This can lead to feelings of selfishness or selflessness, there may be a need to re-evaluate what it means to “own” or “have” something in contrast to what it means to know or to feel something.

Full moons have the tendency to bring to light issues that have remained unnoticed or unacknowledged. With the combination of Mars retrograde and the moon, particularly in the sign of Sagittarius, there is an element of emotional truth that we may be trying to come to terms with. We will likely find ourselves doing some soul searching and may even find we scratch the surface of some rather uncomfortable stuff. Try not to let yourself get too overwhelmed, as this phase of the moon passes, so too will the emotional intensity. The key is not to judge oneself, but to search curiously within, to see what you find.

It is likely that newly aroused passion or realized goals beg to be set and pursued. Inspiration demands to be channeled, but there is also a sense of being held back and feeling as though something in the equation isn’t quite right yet. With over a month left of Mars retrograde, it may be awhile before our plans for pursuing these burning urges start to play out in the intended way, where we don’t find ourselves taking one step forward and two steps back. For now, it may be best to nourish that spark. Allow the passion and desire that is likely beginning to emerge, into your life, and soak it up. Marinate in it, until you have absorbed so much of that it has actually become a part of you.

Mercury Direct

Early Sunday morning, Mercury will station direct in Taurus and enter its storm phase, the last part of the retrograde cycle. During this time Mercury slowly begins to pick up speed, regaining momentum over the next few weeks, until it is back to its zippy little self. Things feel more forward moving, but the inconveniences of the retrograde are not over just yet. During the storm period, errors or issues related to plans or commitments made during the retrograde tend to reveal themselves. Mercury stationing direct tends to bring to light truths that may have been lurking beneath the surface in weeks prior. As the slow, staggered flow of information that we have likely found ourselves fumbling through begins to smooth out, both our thoughts and our lives’ will begin to feel more fluid.

Over the last 3 weeks, as Mercury retraced its path through Taurus [on top of all the usual retrograde inconveniences] it is likely that we have been dealing with issues related to our sense of security, our finances, and our values; as well as our place among our social networks and the groups that we belong to. For some, Mercury’s retrograde through Taurus may felt stripping, as we are forced to move on from that which we have deemed safe and comfortable. For others, it may have felt eye-opening, as we gained new respect and perspective on our finances and earnings. Some, may have had a less intense experience, and just had to fumble through the usual inconvenient ways of Mercury retrograde, but it is safe to say, the last few weeks have definitely felt off. As with all astrological events, the specific impacts and affects the transit will have on individuals differs depending on where planets are located in one’s birth chart, for more details and personalized information, email Starface Astrology!

As Mercury stations direct in the 12th house, associated with our deepest thoughts and secrets, and forms a trine to Jupiter in the 4th house, associated with ones’ home and roots, there may be an element of needing to address things at home, or to search for the solutions or answers to current problems in the ways of the past. In addition to forming a trine to Jupiter, Mercury also forms a trine to Pluto in the 8th house, suggesting we are very aware of the internal shifts and changes taking place within each of us. Also suggesting we may continue to deal with authority issues, even if it is personally, inside our own mind.

Mercury in Taurus is reliable, loyal, musical and peaceful. However, it can also be unwilling to cooperate, become set in unhealthy overindulging ways and be uncompromisingly stubborn. In the 12th house, Mercury in Taurus can describe a sort of mental perseverance able to conquer all, but it can also describe the opposite; a mental breakdown, a sort of all-encompassing withdrawal from the outside world.

It can be difficult to thrive and move forward after periods of change, especially after having one’s safety net removed, or security blanket taken away. Life feels unsteady, heart and mind feel unsure, so instead of moving forward or even moving backwards, paralysis sets in and stagnancy replaces production. It is an easy hole to fall into, but the truth is, despite the discomfort, it’s really not necessary to end up in a downward spiral. The power to choose your outcome is in your hands, your thoughts and your intention.

Saturn in Sagittarius, just above the descendant reminds us of the importance of setting routine, learning discipline and acting with integrity, especially when relating and interacting with others. In order to make peace with the changes we are implementing into our lives, we must be real, real with ourselves and real with others. Growth comes with experience, with acknowledging mistakes made and learning to do things differently. Healing cannot be rushed any more than one can rush a spiritual awakening. Claiming to have conquered your inner demons and to have changed for the approval of others, rather than for oneself, (or before you actually have) is likely to create frustration and confusion for everyone involved. At the same time, it is necessary to understand that one’s path is not everyone else’s and safe  space must be given for each to develop their own sense of boundaries and direction.

With the moon and Mars still occupying Sagittarius, we may notice our emotions still feeling off, our mode of expression turned inward. Though Mercury has stationed direct, there is still some funk to work through during the storm phase. We may find ourselves stuck picking up the pieces of a financial disaster, a relationship, or simply trying to figure out what it means to feel peace of mind – which can be exacerbated by Mars retrograde. It is important during this time to focus and listen to yourself, to really pay attention to your thoughts and where they are directing you. Acting on autopilot, doing as you normally do – will lead you to the same conclusion.  Whereas the goal of the retrograde is to break the cycle, to grow and to reach a new level of awareness. Beneath the inconvenient, mentally taxing ways of Mercury retrograde is opportunity, a second chance.

Take it.

Leo Full Moon; Mercury Stations Direct, Conjuncts Pluto: Here Comes Change

mercury_pluto_

On Thursday, January 21st, Mercury, currently retrograde, began its conjunction with Pluto, planet of transformation, rebirth and regeneration. What might normally be a relatively quick and subtle aspect is exacerbated and lengthened as Mercury retrograde backtracks past Pluto in the 15th° of Capricorn to the 14th°, where it stations direct. At this point in the retrograde cycle, Mercury is moving at its slowest speed. Once stationed direct, it appears to come to a stop and then reverses direction, passing by Pluto once more and entering the storm period of the cycle. Because Mercury is retrograde and moving so slowly during this time, its transit with Pluto will be felt, emphasized and at work longer than usual.

However, before Mercury stations direct, a midst the conjunctions with Pluto, the energies are pulled to focus on the Moon, as we experience the Leo full moon, exact Sunday, January 24th at 5:46 PM PST. This adding a sense of drama and flair to the air, as well as the potential for a lighter, playful energy to our Sunday evening, before the heaviness ensues and Mercury stations direct. Leo adds a creative element to this transforming time. The Full Moon, hitting the 12th and 6th houses in the full moon chart suggests this is a good time to establish creative routine, find release. Leo, ruled by the Sun, is a bold sign, it is expressive and strong. This full moon reminds us of our part in creating our destiny in the world around us. As we engage with our environment, we have the choice as to how we greet our day, how we seize our day and how we react or respond to situations. Through this time of transformation, where many feel as though the world is shifting beneath their feet, it is important to remember the role our personal creativity plays in the life we manifest for ourselves. The Leo full moon is here to remind us of this power, the power we do have, when it may not feel like there is much power to be had.

During this time some deep changes are being urged and in a sense forced into our lives – pushing us all a little further on our personal evolutionary journeys. Adding to this already intense Plutonian energy that will fuel the next week or so, Mercury stations direct in the 8th house of Pluto co-ruled Scorpio on Monday, January 25th at 1:50 PM PST. This is a time of change, like it or not. Whether in regard to relationships, finances, career, matters at home, or how we present ourselves – the universe has bigger plans for us, and it is likely that beneath the stress and distractions of life, we also have bigger plans for ourselves. Pluto has the tendency to remove the unnecessary, the glitz and glamour and show you what needs addressing. Mercury’s slow visit here, implying the need to really think about what we are getting ourselves into, to really learn and dive into the details of the matter, but also implying a change in our awareness, and the need to expand our minds beyond their current limitations. Pluto, acting as a molding force.

Pluto aspects have the tendency to feel difficult and heavy, bringing about the growing pains of life as we mature emotionally and spiritually. The chance for crises and confusion is just as likely as the opportunity to achieve resolution, and to eventually find comfort in the changes taking place. Aim for patience with yourself and with others, especially over the next few weeks. You truly do not know the battles others are fighting, as you fight your own. Compassion and understanding go a long way, both personally and socially.

Furthermore, Mercury stationing direct and entering its storm phase brings up issues, commitments, conversations and plans we have made or encountered over the last few weeks, since Mercury stationed retrograde on January 5th. As Mercury made its way back through Capricorn, it is likely miscommunications, delays and revisions were common – especially in the work environment and and in regard to achieving goals. These set backs causing us to examine the structures of our lives; our homes, routines, money, authority and in some cases our bodies. For more on Mercury’s retrograde through Capricorn, check out Reclaiming Your Power. This retrograde through the earth sign Capricorn associated with the material world, has been more tangible than Mercury’s retrogrades of 2015 through the air signs. Though the specific effects of the retrograde differ person to person, based on where it is currently transiting ones natal chart, as well as where and how prevalent Mercury and its associated signs and houses are in one’s natal chart – the overall inconveniences, technological malfunctions, and miscommunications are easily felt by all during these times, as well as being re-visited by ideas and people from our past.

As Mercury reaches the 14th° of Capricorn, where it stations direct, the inconveniences and typical Mercury retrograde anomalies will reach a peak, and then slowly begin to subside as Mercury completes its storm phase, and regains its speed. During retrogrades, it is generally not advised to make any commitments, sign new agreements or begin new impulsive projects, and it is during Mercury’s storm period that the unseen fine print, or overlooked details regarding these new endeavors tend to present themselves. The completion of the storm period, and this retrograde cycle ends on February 15th in the 1st° of Aquarius. Life stops feeling so backwards, and though we are still wobbly and unsure of this new metamorphosis we have undergone, though the fog is still thick and difficult to navigate through, with both feet on the ground, we feel as though we can move forward more easily with a greater sense of purpose and power.

Taurus Full Moon : Re-entering the Comfort Zone

Venus has been prevalent in the skies over the last couple of months. It began with Venus retrograde in Leo (the end of July – early September) and continued on with Mercury retrograde (mid-September – early October) in Venus ruled Libra. Then Venus entered Virgo, changing up the pace and allowing us to move beyond the ties to the retrogrades. Shortly after, we experienced the Libra New Moon (second week of October) which likely continued to place emphasis on our relationships. Over the hump of the retrogrades, the Libra new moon signified new beginnings and ways of being, and a greater sense of emotional balance.

Soon, we are to experience a different more earthy side of Venus, as the Sun and Moon make their monthly opposition, giving way to the Taurus full moon, on October 27.

The chart for the Taurus full moon casts its glow, again, on the relationship angle of the chart, with the Moon in the 7th house and the Scorpio Sun in the 1st house. The comfortable Taurus full moon has a calm, safe energy.  It is likely the instability and craziness that has been stirring over the past few months has led us to more sturdy ground. For a while, we may have found ourselves in a state of limbo, unpredictability or dissatisfaction. Addressing these issues has not been easy, but we are finally on the other side. The Sun in the 1st house reminds us of the importance of focusing on our own personal self-development, outside of our relationships. By pushing ourselves and intentionally striving and aiming to be the “best” version of ourselves we can be and by living our lives honestly, in a way that resonates with our souls, we will ultimately find a greater sense of peace and comfort from our friends, family, lovers and world. Additionally, we will find ourselves able to participate more healthily in these relationships, giving and receiving love from a more pure, non-judgmental heart space. Integrity goes a long way.

Pluto in Capricorn in the 4th house making a trine to the Moon, Venus, Mars and Jupiter suggests that we are feeling more confident in our ways. The “scary” part is over. We feel the necessity of change. The light at the end of the tunnel is within reach. The rigidness of life becomes more fluid. However, we must remain practical and diligent about sticking to our goals. Appreciate the relief for now, but know that the stress of life is just around the corner serving to keep us on our toes and in a state of constant evolution.

Chiron in exact opposition to Venus, suggests the possibility of work related issues. As well as the likelihood that we will find ourselves called upon to be of service, in such a way that we are able to put our recently revised values/way of being, into action.

With the series of conjunctions taking place between Venus, Jupiter and Mars in Virgo, we have the tools to make big things happen. Have faith, keep at it – trust in yourself. There is pressure to work hard and to live up to the responsibilities we have accepted and invited into our lives – but hard work often leads to results. The energies are here for us to play with. Manifest.

Saturn in Sagittarius in the 2nd house approaching a square to Neptune in Pisces in the 5th, reminds us that accomplishing any goal takes time, effort, practice and commitment, but it also takes vision, creativity and heart. With Neptune making a trine to the Sun, we are gifted. We feel our deepest creativity, dreams and desires project themselves into our reality. Anything is possible, you just have to want it and be willing to work for it.

Pisces Full Moon, Jupiter Opposite Neptune

The Sun made its transition into Virgo last Sunday where it met up with Mercury and Jupiter, and on Saturday, August 29th, we witness the Pisces full moon.

The shift in energy, as the Sun moves from fixed, assertive, big-pictured Leo, to mutable, contemplative, detail oriented Virgo is much needed. With all of the changes that we have been considering, making and attempting to implement over the past month – life has felt a bit overwhelming. Leo can make things feel dramatic and over the top, it may have been hard to break things apart and look at them piece by piece – getting caught up in the big picture. With the energy shifting to Virgo, we begin to focus on fine-tuning details and planning on how we are going to accomplish our new goals.

This Pisces full moon comes packed with Pisces energy, as Jupiter and Neptune who co-rule Pisces will also be in opposition. All this watery energy helps to cool down the heat and ego of Leo, in addition to bringing us in touch with our true intent and dreams.

The Sun in Virgo in the 10th house suggests that after much considering, it is likely we have made a decision about our place in the world, and how we want or don’t want others to perceive us. Perhaps we have not yet acknowledged this choice aloud to ourselves or to others, but close examination of actions will show that we indeed have chosen the path we will take. Additionally, there is the likelihood that whatever decision has been made has either affected, or will soon will affect our public reputation in one way or another. Jupiter’s presence a mere 3° away, gives all the support imaginable. Still, it is going to take some perseverance. Belief, commitment and desire are the keys here – without them the burdens of daily obligation will be more obvious and may outweigh the benefits. Additionally, with Virgo’s tendency to find flaw and criticize, one should be conscious of the advice they give, share and receive. Avoid the tendency to be overly cynical or judgmental – there is a difference between constructive criticism and an insult.

With the full moon in Pisces, taking place in the 4th house, though we may be able to “keep it together” in public, at home, emotions are still running rather high. Beneath the surface, there is still some uncertainty about what we have agreed or committed to – but home is where we are free to release from the anxious tension of the day. Neptune’s presence has the tendency to blur the lines of reality, sometimes, causing us to view the world with rose tinted glasses, where everything appears wonderful and rosey, other times, causing us to view it with our dark brown tinted glasses, where everything appears horrible and shitty. This makes it particularly important to stay present and to take things at face value. Be realistic and proactive, playing the victim does not serve anyone.

Venus slowly retrograding back through Leo, continues to sift through and re-evaluate our relationships with those we love, our values and our most prized possessions, meets up with and forms a conjunction to Mars on the first of September. Its likely that over the past month, Venus retrograde has inspired you to question certain elements in your life that seem to no longer fit or serve you. Periodically clearing ones life of the outdated is healthy and allows one the space to flourish and grow. With Mars here, there is the necessary will power and energy to make the choices we need to make. Mars is strong, assertive and sexual. Passion definitely runs high and emotions run deep. There is again, the feeling of wanting to move forward, though something still may not be sitting quite right. Avoid the temptation to act impulsively.

To learn more about Venus retrograde, read Leaving The Comfort Zone.

Uranus in Aries in the 5th house aspecting Venus retrograde and Mars in Leo suggests there is still an element of detachment in the air. With Mars here, this issue needs to be addressed. It may be a time take responsibility for actions and owning one’s feelings. You may find yourself issuing or asking for a second chance. Whether it be re-starting an old hobby, forgiving a friend, re-considering a purchase, or even giving things with a past lover another try – it is not the time to rule anything out yet.

In addition to Venus retrograde and Mars stirring up some action on September 1st, Mercury in Libra enters its retrograde shadow period. Make note of the experiences you encounter the first few weeks of September, as they will likely be revisited in one way or another when Mercury stations retrograde and retraces its path.

Blue Moon in Aquarius: Looking Beneath the Shadows

Allow yourself to see that just as the Universe is made up of dark and light matter – so are we. Without the dark matter in space, the brightness of the stars and celestial bodies might not seem so sublime and without the beaming glow of the stars and celestial bodies the darkness would not seem so mysterious and intriguing.

Just about 3 arc minutes before Venus retrograde reaches the cusp of Leo, we experience the second full moon of the month, known as a Blue Moon. When the Moon graces us with her full face twice in one month it is an indication that we should pay attention to our emotions and intuition.

We live in a world where it is very easy to become disconnected to the living beings we are. Society requires us to be concerned with our appearance and our finances – but very rarely encourages us to connect with the deeper parts of ourselves.

Our lack of interaction with our true essence of life casts this part of us into the darkness, the shadow aspects of our personality. It is the part of us where that “little voice” lives, the part of us that longs for the soothing touch of another when we feel sad and broken, it is where we banish our sexual thoughts and desires to, and where our creativity is born. It is the part of us where our shame lives, where guilt brews – and the majority of the time, instead of acknowledging these feelings or urges we bury them beneath drugs, violence or simply a facade of lies. We do not question where these ideas, pains or emotions come from or why we have them – instead we have been conditioned to think of them as”bad” and cover it up by something else in which we have been taught is “good” or the way one should be.

This Full Moon sheds light on the darkness we have kept hidden, allowing us – if we choose – to make peace with the more “unaccepted” parts of ourselves. It is an opportunity to bridge the internal gap that exists between the spirit within us and the egocentric personalities that we project into the world. Additionally, with Venus recently stationing retrograde and Pluto retrograde presenting itself on the 7th house cusp – more light will also be shed on our relationships.

During a Full Moon, there is the tendency for the buried to surface. On Friday, July 31, a few hours before sunrise, the Full Moon will reach its peak in Aquarius. The magnificent light of the Moon, connecting us with the progressive, quirky, radical energy of Aquarius in the realm of the 8th house suggests we are in the midst of transformation. Aquarius is a vibrant, eccentric sign, determined to shake up the status quo and encourage individuality.

The Suns presence, on the opposite  side of the zodiac, in Leo in the 2nd house further encourages us to be bold and expressive. With Leo on the 2nd house, there is the tendency to find security in the appreciation and acknowledgement of those around you – and with Mercury, Venus retrograde and Jupiter close by – there is likely the need to share information and release emotions. For some, this may occur on a more personal level, where personal acknowledgement, acceptance and appreciation of one’s own inner differences may be the mission at hand. Astrology affects us all differently depending on how one’s natal chart is aspected by the current celestial transits. However, with the repression that comes along with Venus retrograde, expressing ones feelings may not come easily, regardless of how ones chart is aspected.

Along with the already heightened energy surrounding our relationships brought about by Venus retrograde, Pluto retrograde in Capricorn in the 7th house is opposing the Ascendant in Cancer. This makes relationship issues even more obvious and reaffirms the need for some deep, honest change in regard to how we manage our partnerships. Though it is important for relationships to be built around trust, love and respect – it is also necessary for relationships to have goals. Relating to other people is one way in which we grow as individuals, but in order to really grow as a couple, friendship or partnership – mountains must be climbed and conquered together. It is the time spent climbing and conquering together where trust, compassion and true love thrives and memories are made. Without these goals or a sense of direction, relationships may feel like a dead end or trap. Pluto retrograde can also present situations in a rather dire manner, where “forced change” is required. With the placements of all the other planets, our freedom and individuality is definitely being fueled and prioritized, feeling trapped or lacking growth may provoke unexpected actions.

With Mars, Venus retrograde and Jupiter narrowing in on the Sun and Mercury in the 2nd House and Saturn continuing to creep its way through Scorpio in the 5th house – it seems whatever issues the Full Moon and Venus retrograde are requiring we pay attention to are competing with the clock. There is an element of time at hand, and whether it be a deadline we must abide by, our own biological clock, or just the emotional need to complete the current chapter in life – we are being urged to move forward and take the next step. Additionally Scorpios energy on the 5th house – emphasizing the energy of Leo even more, suggests that constraints on creative and sexual release are likely a big part of the problem, as well as the solution.

With the Full Moon in Aquarius, we are given the safe space to express those parts we keep hidden, and we are able to take a more objective approach to integrating these parts into our public persona than perhaps we’ve been able to in the past.

With Chiron, the centaur, conjuncting the Midheaven and making a trine to both Saturn and Mars, our wounds become more accessible and visible to ourselves and others. We are able to see the flaws that have become the entangled webs of our lives – trapping us until we decide to acknowledge them, own them and rise above them.
