Mars Direct in Scorpio 06/29/16: Pushing Forward

mars

On Wednesday,  June 29, Mars will station direct, completing its retrograde through the first part of Sagittarius and the last 7 degrees of Scorpio.  Mars is the planet associated with that which we desire most in life.  It is the craving we must satisfy and the lover we lust for passionately.  It is the drive to make our dreams tangible, the bravery to confront one’s fears.  It is seemingly unconquerable. Like adrenaline, Mars is the strength and energy to persevere and survive when the odds are stacked against you. With Mars retrograde the last two months, it is likely these aspects of our lives, of ourselves, have turned inward for a period of internal review and soul strengthening. Its lessons presented themselves as obstacles, such as the inability to express oneself accurately, difficulties connecting with one’s passions or inhibited creative or sexual release. Its lessons also likely inspired a sense of internal investigation leading us to question our beliefs, all that we think we know and all that we think we are. Ultimately, Mars retrograde serves to propel us forward on our journey; to get us in touch with the deep wants and callings from within, and to give us the courage to face whatever darkness we may encounter along the way.

With Mars stationing direct in the 12th house, just a degree above the Ascendant, our truth is surfacing. Attention is brought to our transforming inner thoughts. Our mind has changed, expanded to allow for a new mode of expression and being. You are more than you thought you could be. Strong, brave and ready to go. There is a deep urge to grow, to face fears and to feel fully and openly. However, where one’s truth is exposed, often, so too is one’s sense of denial. The 12th house is the house of the unconscious and secrets. With Scorpio on the cusp, we are seeking truth; personal, spiritual, physical, sexual and biological – but this cannot be found without first acknowledging whatever lies might bury it.

Mars forms a trine to Venus in the 8th house, with Cancer on the cusp. This suggests that the truths we may be coming to terms with are transforming our home, or our concept of what or where home is. Whether it is the physical structure/place, people and materials that fill it, or the spiritual and emotional connotation – change is inevitable. A shift has occurred, momentum has been accumulating, and with Mars now moving forward and our minds focused on truth – it is time to let that truth envelop one’s environment and become part of one’s story. The Sun and Mercury, also in Cancer, further emphasize the energies of the home ; perhaps the purchasing or move to a new one, re-decorating or re-financing. There is a strong feeling of needing ones identity to be adequately represented by one’s home, and making whatever changes needed to achieve this. After the instability and insecurities of the last few months, it is important to feel safe in one’s living environment, to feel free and to be able to embrace the activities and material possessions that bring joy and beauty to one’s life.

The moon in Taurus forms a sextile to the Sun in Cancer, forging the connection between how we are managing our stress and the amount of emotional energy we have to put towards our usual daily endeavors. If we are coming from a place that feels positive and capable, if the changes we are making are truly in our best interest – we are likely to find ourselves feeling peaceful and productive. Without the burdens of the past and the backward tug of the retrograde, we can move forward, re-directing our emotional output and energy. However, there is also the ability to linger in the funk of what has not played out according to desire. This can lead to a more lazy, over-indulgent behavior – so much emotional energy is being used to linger that there are limited amounts left to put towards one’s normal routine. Times are tough and it’s important to be gentle with yourself, but you must also encourage yourself to grow and to let go of that which does not serve you. The last few months have required a sense of patience with oneself, but we are at a point now, where – like Mars – it is time to push forward.

Sagittarius Full Moon & Mercury Direct: Searching the Soul

moon stars

On Friday, May 20, the Sun begins its journey through Gemini, leaving Venus and Mercury retrograde in Taurus. With the Sun leaving the calm, earthy sign of the bull and entering the flighty, energetic realm of the twins, we may notice a change in the way in which we process information, leaving the sensual, physical ways of Taurus, [ think: touch, closeness, dependability] for the mentally agile ways of Gemini, [think: stimulating conversation, intellect, new ideas]. The shift in Solar energy is just the beginning of several celestial events peaking this weekend, as we experience the Sagittarius full moon on Saturday and Mercury stationing direct on Sunday!

Sagittarius Full Moon

The full moon is exact at 2:15 pm PST on Saturday the 21st of May in the very first degree of Sagittarius and forms a conjunction to Mars retrograde, in the second degree of Sagittarius, still a few degrees away from its re-entrance to Scorpio. Meanwhile, just a few degrees away from the Sun, is Venus, still in Taurus, but close enough to join in on the energy of the opposition straddling the 3rd and 9th houses. The 3rd, associated with our perceived environment, communication, our siblings and our neighbors; the 9th associated with traveling, education, setting goals and spiritual attainment.

As the moon and mars meet up for their conjunction, there may be a feeling of emotionally moving backwards or feeling confused about recent “emotionally” or passion fueled decisions. The moon being so close to Mars retrograde in Sagittarius, can feel a bit emotionally repressed. There may be a feeling of not being able to get what you want, leading to borderline childish reactions. Try to be considerate. Considerate of others, but also considerate of yourself; of your behavior and how your actions influence your perception of your environment.

The Sun in Gemini, merging its energy with that of Venus a few degrees away in Taurus, will likely have us aligning ourselves with our values, or experience a sense of feeling “defined” by what you have. This can lead to feelings of selfishness or selflessness, there may be a need to re-evaluate what it means to “own” or “have” something in contrast to what it means to know or to feel something.

Full moons have the tendency to bring to light issues that have remained unnoticed or unacknowledged. With the combination of Mars retrograde and the moon, particularly in the sign of Sagittarius, there is an element of emotional truth that we may be trying to come to terms with. We will likely find ourselves doing some soul searching and may even find we scratch the surface of some rather uncomfortable stuff. Try not to let yourself get too overwhelmed, as this phase of the moon passes, so too will the emotional intensity. The key is not to judge oneself, but to search curiously within, to see what you find.

It is likely that newly aroused passion or realized goals beg to be set and pursued. Inspiration demands to be channeled, but there is also a sense of being held back and feeling as though something in the equation isn’t quite right yet. With over a month left of Mars retrograde, it may be awhile before our plans for pursuing these burning urges start to play out in the intended way, where we don’t find ourselves taking one step forward and two steps back. For now, it may be best to nourish that spark. Allow the passion and desire that is likely beginning to emerge, into your life, and soak it up. Marinate in it, until you have absorbed so much of that it has actually become a part of you.

Mercury Direct

Early Sunday morning, Mercury will station direct in Taurus and enter its storm phase, the last part of the retrograde cycle. During this time Mercury slowly begins to pick up speed, regaining momentum over the next few weeks, until it is back to its zippy little self. Things feel more forward moving, but the inconveniences of the retrograde are not over just yet. During the storm period, errors or issues related to plans or commitments made during the retrograde tend to reveal themselves. Mercury stationing direct tends to bring to light truths that may have been lurking beneath the surface in weeks prior. As the slow, staggered flow of information that we have likely found ourselves fumbling through begins to smooth out, both our thoughts and our lives’ will begin to feel more fluid.

Over the last 3 weeks, as Mercury retraced its path through Taurus [on top of all the usual retrograde inconveniences] it is likely that we have been dealing with issues related to our sense of security, our finances, and our values; as well as our place among our social networks and the groups that we belong to. For some, Mercury’s retrograde through Taurus may felt stripping, as we are forced to move on from that which we have deemed safe and comfortable. For others, it may have felt eye-opening, as we gained new respect and perspective on our finances and earnings. Some, may have had a less intense experience, and just had to fumble through the usual inconvenient ways of Mercury retrograde, but it is safe to say, the last few weeks have definitely felt off. As with all astrological events, the specific impacts and affects the transit will have on individuals differs depending on where planets are located in one’s birth chart, for more details and personalized information, email Starface Astrology!

As Mercury stations direct in the 12th house, associated with our deepest thoughts and secrets, and forms a trine to Jupiter in the 4th house, associated with ones’ home and roots, there may be an element of needing to address things at home, or to search for the solutions or answers to current problems in the ways of the past. In addition to forming a trine to Jupiter, Mercury also forms a trine to Pluto in the 8th house, suggesting we are very aware of the internal shifts and changes taking place within each of us. Also suggesting we may continue to deal with authority issues, even if it is personally, inside our own mind.

Mercury in Taurus is reliable, loyal, musical and peaceful. However, it can also be unwilling to cooperate, become set in unhealthy overindulging ways and be uncompromisingly stubborn. In the 12th house, Mercury in Taurus can describe a sort of mental perseverance able to conquer all, but it can also describe the opposite; a mental breakdown, a sort of all-encompassing withdrawal from the outside world.

It can be difficult to thrive and move forward after periods of change, especially after having one’s safety net removed, or security blanket taken away. Life feels unsteady, heart and mind feel unsure, so instead of moving forward or even moving backwards, paralysis sets in and stagnancy replaces production. It is an easy hole to fall into, but the truth is, despite the discomfort, it’s really not necessary to end up in a downward spiral. The power to choose your outcome is in your hands, your thoughts and your intention.

Saturn in Sagittarius, just above the descendant reminds us of the importance of setting routine, learning discipline and acting with integrity, especially when relating and interacting with others. In order to make peace with the changes we are implementing into our lives, we must be real, real with ourselves and real with others. Growth comes with experience, with acknowledging mistakes made and learning to do things differently. Healing cannot be rushed any more than one can rush a spiritual awakening. Claiming to have conquered your inner demons and to have changed for the approval of others, rather than for oneself, (or before you actually have) is likely to create frustration and confusion for everyone involved. At the same time, it is necessary to understand that one’s path is not everyone else’s and safe  space must be given for each to develop their own sense of boundaries and direction.

With the moon and Mars still occupying Sagittarius, we may notice our emotions still feeling off, our mode of expression turned inward. Though Mercury has stationed direct, there is still some funk to work through during the storm phase. We may find ourselves stuck picking up the pieces of a financial disaster, a relationship, or simply trying to figure out what it means to feel peace of mind – which can be exacerbated by Mars retrograde. It is important during this time to focus and listen to yourself, to really pay attention to your thoughts and where they are directing you. Acting on autopilot, doing as you normally do – will lead you to the same conclusion.  Whereas the goal of the retrograde is to break the cycle, to grow and to reach a new level of awareness. Beneath the inconvenient, mentally taxing ways of Mercury retrograde is opportunity, a second chance.

Take it.

Pisces Total Solar Eclipse : A Window of Opportunity, March 8, 2016

solar eclipse

Less than a week after ringing in the 2016 New Year, Mercury stationed retrograde in the 1st degree of Aquarius and made its way back through the latter half of Capricorn. The beginning of the year, a time normally associated with resolutions, consciously changing our habits and taking responsibility for ourselves and the way in which we live, became a time of pause, review, reflection and distraction.  It is common to enter the New Year with a positive, ambitious mindset; that you will finally take charge of the changes you want to make and quit the habits that must be broken. However, with the fog, interferences, unpredictability and backwards tug of Mercury retrograde – it is likely many of our resolutions and goals have spent more time on the back burner than they have guiding us to make the positive changes we had intended. It isn’t that these ideas, plans or thoughts have escaped us – in fact, there is a good chance that these ideas continue to brew and simmer beneath the surface, giving us a little kick in the butt every now and then to remind us to get back on track – but they have not been our driving force.

For more on Mercury retrograde, check out Reclaiming Your Power.

It is easy to give into the obstacles life throws at you, to give up on pursuing dreams and fall into the trap of “making ends meet”, or managing struggle after struggle. It can be much more difficult to take responsibility, to confront your inner demons and to realize that maybe the reason you’re floundering is because you have yet to take responsibility. Maybe the reason you have not been able to save money, is because you continue to spend it unwisely. Or the reason your relationships are not fulfilling, is because you, yourself, have failed to acknowledge your own needs; and the reason you have not lost weight – because you have not changed your diet or begun exercising. It is easy to blame life and others for the actions we are too scared or lazy to take – but, that is not likely to get us very far on the road to accomplishing our goals and happiness. So, why settle for defeat, when you could just as easily choose success?

We are about to enter a time of great possibilities and revelation. The perfect combination of celestial energies to breathe life into our dreams and intentions, and help us to implement the changes we must make in order to better cope and thrive, both emotionally and physically, will soon be upon us. An alignment of planets in Pisces, including a total solar eclipse, forming aspects to Jupiter and Saturn, will soon provide us with the gifts of opportunity, insight and manifestation.

On March 8, at about 5:57 pm PST, shortly after the Sun and Moon disappear below the horizon, the total solar eclipse will peak over the Pacific Ocean and parts of Indonesia. Eclipses typically occur in pairs, a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse, separated by two weeks. These two weeks, the eclipse zone, tend to present us with opportunities, tools and clues, as well as a time of rapidly accelerated growth and bringing to light issues that we have kept in the dark, either consciously or unconsciously. They are windows of chance and the ideal time to integrate new habits and end toxic patterns.

Pisces represents the last phase in a cycle, the metamorphosis that occurs when the leaves of autumn fall and the flowers of spring sneak up on us.  Pisces is a compassionate, creative sign. Ruled by Jupiter and Neptune, it is associated with dreams, intuition and the ability to manifest and heal. Pisces is the bridge to the other side of consciousness, the thin veil that separates the thoughts we think and emotions we feel, from the physical world that we experience in front of us.

This eclipse in Pisces represents a kind of spiritual culmination. In the New Year, we move forward in time, according to our calendar year. With this new moon/solar eclipse, we are given the chance to move forward spiritually, according to our souls calling.

With the eclipse making a conjunction to Chiron, and Mercury and Neptune close by in Pisces, in the 6th house, there may be an overwhelming sensation of everything happening all at once. The Sun and Moon, both representing different facets of our identity, our ego and emotional identity, merging together in the house associated with our daily tasks, health, work and the way in which we refine our skills – suggests an inner alignment or awakening between our thoughts and heart; there is a need to practice what you preach, and for the way you view yourself, to align with the person that you actually are. With honest self-examination and an objective perspective, awareness will develop and likely direct our attention back to plans and life changes that we may have pushed to the side in the past. It is time to consciously refine our daily routines, improve our ability to cope, take responsibility for our health and make our lives a more accommodating environment for our successes to grow.

Jupiter conjunct the Ascendant in Virgo is opposite all the action in Pisces. Jupiter is associated with luck, gifts and opportunities. It is expansive and benevolent and with its energy tied into the equation there is even more support in manifesting that which our intent is focused. However, misguided intent is still intent, so it is important to pay attention to your thoughts and be responsible for the world you envision, especially since Jupiter in Virgo can feel anxious and critical. Positive thoughts will lead to positive changes, while negative thoughts will likely only bring about more distraction. Own your personal power, aim your arrows high and as always, be gentle with yourself and those around you.

Saturn midway through Sagittarius in the 3rd house forms a square to both Jupiter and the stellium in Pisces, adding a sense of order and helping us to know there is purpose in all that we have been experiencing.

The acceleration of the eclipse zone is likely to be felt throughout the next few weeks, until March 23, when the Moon and Sun create the lunar penumbral eclipse, bringing an end to this round of eclipses.

Venus and Mars Conjunction, Ingress Libra: Embracing Wholeness

On Thursday, November 12, Mars transitions from Virgo into Libra. Following closely behind Venus, who shifted into Libra on November 8 – the ingress of both of these inner planets from earthy Virgo to airy Libra suggests a lightening and brightening of the energies, a coming together of what may have felt like fragmented pieces.

For the last 4 months there has been lots of attention focused on Venus energies. Venus brings with it a feminine flare and is associated with our values, money, beauty and the things we love most. However, since the beginning of the year, there has been an interesting dynamic between Venus and Mars taking place, a series of 3 exact conjunctions spanning from the end of February through the first week of November, right before Venus changed signs.

The merging of strong, assertive Mars, and Venus who has been busy helping us reevaluate our relationships and values, may have presented itself in many different ways. One of the ways it may have manifested, is as the need to assert oneself over goals, possessions or positions that are considered important. Whether it be work, school or pursuing any passion or intent – there is a need to identify this desire, to embrace it and to stand up to it and for it. For every action, there is a consequence, and to not stand by one’s goals or dreams, to ignore one’s soul purpose is essentially a slow suicide.

Similarly, it may have presented itself in such a way that one’s regularly passive aggressive personality, or one’s rather controlling and highly assertive personality flip flop. It is likely that it has become easier to incorporate a little bit of the opposite energy into our way of being.

At its core, what the merging of Venus and Mars bring to the table is the merging of our inner masculine and feminine energies – helping us to embrace both sides, to find balance and to acknowledge the yin and yang within. Though most of us identify ourselves as either man or woman, we are all born with both male and female sex hormones and we all possess some of what we consider to be traits of the opposite gender. We live in a world where we are told things are black and white, but the truth is not so. The lines are blurring, there are no need for labels – their meanings have outgrown their stigmas. It is possible for a woman to be powerful, strong and lead just the same as it is possible for a man to be kind-hearted, warm, and more domestic. We can be as we are and love every part of it, every part of ourselves. The more we embrace this, acknowledge and recognize our rhythm, the more we are able to find balance and find our wholeness. However, this evolutionary cycle which finished in critical Virgo may have felt more like a battlefield than a pleasant awakening. And for some of us, there may still be some post-war cleaning up to do.

With Mars moving into Libra, the painful self-scrutiny we are likely to have felt while it was in Virgo, will transcend. It is no longer necessary to pick ourselves or each other apart, to dwell or worry on that which is out of our control. Mars in Libra encourages us to take action and to do whatever is necessary to create harmony in our lives. It is easy to get carried away in the negativity that is so prevalent in our society, but it is important to notice and appreciate the beauty and love that allows for a sense of positive contrast.

The hate which runs deep within the blood of many allows us to appreciate the beauty and purity of those who love even deeper. One makes a mistake and learns what not to do the “next time”. The darkness of space allows us to recognize the magnificence and wonder of our luminaries. A loved elderly passes, a new life is birthed. There is a balance between the good and bad, the happy and sad, the ups and downs. A balance so intertwined with our life and all life that it is hard to distinguish ourselves from it. With Mars in Libra, we are embracing this exchange of energy, this give and take.

Though Mars is typically known for stirring up trouble, in Libra, Mars is a problem solver, balance seeker and mediator. There is a deep urge for equality and fairness. Mars in Libra wants to make things beautiful, to make art and to make music – a nice change in pace to the anxious, duty-fulfilling ways of Mars in Virgo.

Also in the chart for Mars’ ingress to Libra, we find Mercury about to make a conjunction to the Sun in Scorpio, and the Moon about to make a conjunction to Saturn in Sagittarius. With the Sun and Mercury in Scorpio, we will likely find ourselves in conversations of a Scorpio nature, where we are talking about life and death, serious situations, acting sarcastically or even perverted. The dark, sexual energy of Scorpio dominating our communication. At the same time, with the Moon approaching conjunction with Saturn in Sagittarius, there is a sense of responsibility and being limited by emotional burdens. Stick to your word, even if every bone in your body is telling you to do otherwise. Impulsive actions will likely cause setbacks or unexpected consequences. Be honest with yourself and strive for sincerity in all that you do.

Virgo New Moon: Making Room For Growth

On September 6, Venus which had been retrograde since the end of August finally stationed direct. The last 6-8 weeks have been quite an emotional ride for many, as Venus’ backwards journey likely provoked us to re-evaluate our relationships to the people and things we love most, our finances and our values. As relieving as it is to have Venus moving forward again, with all that has happened and shifted over the past month and a half, we now find ourselves in a period in which we must learn to adjust and commit to the changes we’ve decided to make.

Early in the morning on Sunday September 13, the Sun and Moon will make their monthly alignment, placing us in the lunar phase of the New Moon. Though it will not be visible to those of us in the Northern hemisphere, this is one of the more special New Moons, in which the Sun and Moon align at just the right angle, that the Earth witnesses a partial solar eclipse.  The path of totality for this partial solar eclipse is rather small, and will only be visible over the southern part of Africa and the surrounding vicinity. Though this will not be a sight those of us from the U.S will be able to enjoy,  we will be able to witness the other half of this eclipse pair – the lunar eclipse in Aries – that will take place on September 27.

During the time of a solar eclipse and New Moon, the energy is prime for planting new seeds of intent for ourselves and creating new beginnings. With the Virgo Sun and Moon opposing Chiron in Pisces, there is now a distinction between the wounds we have been healing, and ourselves. It is easy to play the role of the victim, defining oneself by conditions, mistakes or misfortunes – but with this aspect, we are being given an opportunity to see things more objectively. Taking place in the 4th house suggests the wounds being addressed may take us back to our roots. Whether that be familial roots, spiritual roots, old friends or ways of life – there may be a need to backtrack and take a more critical look at the choices we have made and where they have gotten us.

Furthermore, with the new moon squaring the Ascendant in Gemini we may find ourselves addressing some sort of duality as we become aware of discrepancies between the ideal version of oneself and the reality of oneself. This ideal self is the person our childhood self had imagined they would one day grow into; it was the story we wrote for ourselves. We decided who we wanted to be when we grew up and likely fantasized about some of the details our journey would consist of. It is possible, that some of these details, traits or goals we hoped to attain or achieve, no longer fit the person we have become. Yet without conscious awareness and reassessment – we may continue to aspire to be something or someone we have no actual desire or intent to be, acting on autopilot. Though it is important to have goals and something to aspire to, a vision for oneself, it is important to modify and allow this vision to grow with you through life instead of allowing it to trap you and bound you to an idea that does not resonate with your soul.

The solar eclipse in Virgo is the perfect time to modify our routines to better suit our needs.

Use this time to connect with yourself and set new goals. Where do you want to be in 6 months? What are you doing to get there? What have you been putting your efforts towards on a daily basis – will that get you to where you want to be in 6 months? Whether it is a healthier diet, making more money, finishing school, or making a career change – in order to mold oneself, to grow, to achieve any goal – it takes conscious effort and honestly checking in with oneself on a regular basis.

On the 17th, Mercury stations retrograde and the opposition between Neptune and Jupiter is exact. Make sure to lock in your details and facts now for any endeavors you will engage in over the next month, as details will become more obscure as the week goes on.

Pisces Full Moon, Jupiter Opposite Neptune

The Sun made its transition into Virgo last Sunday where it met up with Mercury and Jupiter, and on Saturday, August 29th, we witness the Pisces full moon.

The shift in energy, as the Sun moves from fixed, assertive, big-pictured Leo, to mutable, contemplative, detail oriented Virgo is much needed. With all of the changes that we have been considering, making and attempting to implement over the past month – life has felt a bit overwhelming. Leo can make things feel dramatic and over the top, it may have been hard to break things apart and look at them piece by piece – getting caught up in the big picture. With the energy shifting to Virgo, we begin to focus on fine-tuning details and planning on how we are going to accomplish our new goals.

This Pisces full moon comes packed with Pisces energy, as Jupiter and Neptune who co-rule Pisces will also be in opposition. All this watery energy helps to cool down the heat and ego of Leo, in addition to bringing us in touch with our true intent and dreams.

The Sun in Virgo in the 10th house suggests that after much considering, it is likely we have made a decision about our place in the world, and how we want or don’t want others to perceive us. Perhaps we have not yet acknowledged this choice aloud to ourselves or to others, but close examination of actions will show that we indeed have chosen the path we will take. Additionally, there is the likelihood that whatever decision has been made has either affected, or will soon will affect our public reputation in one way or another. Jupiter’s presence a mere 3° away, gives all the support imaginable. Still, it is going to take some perseverance. Belief, commitment and desire are the keys here – without them the burdens of daily obligation will be more obvious and may outweigh the benefits. Additionally, with Virgo’s tendency to find flaw and criticize, one should be conscious of the advice they give, share and receive. Avoid the tendency to be overly cynical or judgmental – there is a difference between constructive criticism and an insult.

With the full moon in Pisces, taking place in the 4th house, though we may be able to “keep it together” in public, at home, emotions are still running rather high. Beneath the surface, there is still some uncertainty about what we have agreed or committed to – but home is where we are free to release from the anxious tension of the day. Neptune’s presence has the tendency to blur the lines of reality, sometimes, causing us to view the world with rose tinted glasses, where everything appears wonderful and rosey, other times, causing us to view it with our dark brown tinted glasses, where everything appears horrible and shitty. This makes it particularly important to stay present and to take things at face value. Be realistic and proactive, playing the victim does not serve anyone.

Venus slowly retrograding back through Leo, continues to sift through and re-evaluate our relationships with those we love, our values and our most prized possessions, meets up with and forms a conjunction to Mars on the first of September. Its likely that over the past month, Venus retrograde has inspired you to question certain elements in your life that seem to no longer fit or serve you. Periodically clearing ones life of the outdated is healthy and allows one the space to flourish and grow. With Mars here, there is the necessary will power and energy to make the choices we need to make. Mars is strong, assertive and sexual. Passion definitely runs high and emotions run deep. There is again, the feeling of wanting to move forward, though something still may not be sitting quite right. Avoid the temptation to act impulsively.

To learn more about Venus retrograde, read Leaving The Comfort Zone.

Uranus in Aries in the 5th house aspecting Venus retrograde and Mars in Leo suggests there is still an element of detachment in the air. With Mars here, this issue needs to be addressed. It may be a time take responsibility for actions and owning one’s feelings. You may find yourself issuing or asking for a second chance. Whether it be re-starting an old hobby, forgiving a friend, re-considering a purchase, or even giving things with a past lover another try – it is not the time to rule anything out yet.

In addition to Venus retrograde and Mars stirring up some action on September 1st, Mercury in Libra enters its retrograde shadow period. Make note of the experiences you encounter the first few weeks of September, as they will likely be revisited in one way or another when Mercury stations retrograde and retraces its path.

Changing For The Better: Venus Rx Conjunct Jupiter, Mercury and Sun

On August 1st, Venus made it’s way back into Leo where it joined Jupiter, Mercury and the Sun. With Leo beaming its glorious glow through 4 planets there is the tendency for things to become dramatic and/or over the top, as we engage and interact with the bolder aspects of the personalities around us. Additionally, we may feel the fire in the sky fueling our passion and heightening our creativity.

Throughout the next week and a half, as Venus’ retrograde path collides with the 3 forward moving planets, we will witness a sort of planetary dance, in conjunction form. The first pair of partners will be Venus and Jupiter, then Venus will move onto dance with Mercury, then Mercury and Jupiter will have their turn to dance. Venus will continue back through Leo, and dance  its final dosey doe, as it conjuncts the Sun on August 16. With so many planets so close together in Leo – there will likely be an element of tension in the air increasing the probability of clashing egos. This tension may also fuel the need to address recent changes to our values system and project them into the outside world. However, with Venus on its backwards track, we are still re-evaluating and it is likely that that which has changed will continue to morph as Venus makes contact with each planet.

As Venus, planet of love and values, meets up with Jupiter, the planet of luck and manifestation, Mercury, the planet of communication and mental awareness, and the Sun, planet associated with our identity – we are reviewing and reconsidering what it is we want in life and what we are willing to sacrifice in order to make these ideals/things happen. Will it take being brave and bold and confronting ones fears? Will it take giving up leisure activities to spend more time focusing on improving ones skills? Will it take risking certain goals to attain others? Will it take making compromises in relationships in order to stay with the person we love? Are we content with life, with no need to make change – and if so, is that the same thing as happiness?

While we find ourselves reflecting over our values, our wants and needs –  the activity taking place in the 11th house – suggests that though we may all handle our battles differently, there is a sense of understanding on a larger scale, that each of us is struggling similarly to create balance amidst the energy’s tug of war. Turning to ones community and friends may bring unexpected comfort and bonding, as relating through “co-misery” triggers healing of deep rooted issues relating to loneliness and helps us to see that our mistakes and flaws don’t need to define us – but we can let them serve, guide and better us.

As Saturn, now direct, transits the 2nd house, our sense of reality shifts as our security is jolted. With Scorpio on the cusp and Saturn making a square to Jupiter, Venus and Mercury, things may feel scary and uncertain, yet at the same time have a comforting familiarity about them. Saturn triggers change necessary to evolve and grow and as it makes a square to our re-evaluating of that which we love and value – we are being pushed to grow, urged to blossom, move beyond our comfort zone and establish new boundaries with both ourselves and others.

With Libra on the Ascendant, making a square to Pluto and opposition to Uranus – we are given the opportunity to diplomatically address issues that have been looming beneath the surface. We are given the opportunity to see both sides of the equation, to acknowledge the ideals and emotional needs of others, as well as our own. At the same time, as much as we are still mulling over certain aspects of life, we begin to realize that though our heart may continue to fumble over what it is we want and need – our mind has already made its decision. As Pluto also aspects both the Sun and Midheaven, we are urged to confront the issues hidden beneath the surface and to begin the mental preparation needed to face whatever fears still stand in the way of completing the metamorphosis we are currently undergoing.
