Venus Retrograde Aries/Pisces: March 4 – April 15

Venus

On March 4th, Venus, planet of love, beauty and pleasure, will station retrograde in the 13° of Aries and make its way back into Pisces, where it will join Neptune and Chiron. While on this backwards journey, Venus will form a conjunction to Mercuryexact on April 1st , and then head on into Pisces, where it will meet up with and form a conjunction to Chiron in the 26° of Pisces. It is here, in the very same degree occupied by Chiron, the wounded healer, where Venus will also station direct on April 15th.

This retrograde, Venus will spend the next 6 weeks backtracking to where it was on January 30th, bringing awareness or re-emphasizing certain experiences that we have had since then. It is likely the issues Venus will touch on have been consuming too much of our energy, on one level or another, and it is time to re-process, respond and move on.

When Venus is retrograde, its energy is turned inward and expressed differently than we are used to. This distorted energy may have a difficult time presenting itself in the external world, while stirring things up internally; bringing up buried desires and making us more aware of the give and take in our relationships – or lack there of.

Additionally, Venus is associated with money and valuables. As Venus stations retrograde, there is the tendency to feel shifts or experience changes in regards to ones’ finances. You may find yourself repaying or reminded of past debts. It is also a good time to do some pre-Spring cleaning, that which no longer serves you may still be of value to someone else. Recycle and reuse.

The specific ways in which Venus retrograde may manifest or express itself in one’s life depends on where Venus is located in one’s natal chart, and its relationship to other planets and points on the chart. That said, Venus is one of the inner planets and is felt personally. It plays a role in relationships and matters of the heart, as well as what one finds beautiful or attractive. It is also associated with our sense of touch and pleasure; Venus pushes us toward what feels good. When it is retrograde, there is the tendency for hiccups or changes to take place in these areas of our personality and life.

Venus begins its retrograde mid-way through the sign Aries, known for its ability to be a bit impulsive and hot headed. Aries is an energetic sign; it helps us to initiate projects, to find the strength to face conflict and the courage to stand up for oneself. However, Venus stationing retrograde in Aries can make us question this courage and strength. It can paralyze the determination of Aries and cause us to question what we want or desire. It can also lead to a sense of self-pity, feeling as though the world or universe is conspiring against you and your wants and needs, as Aries tends to bring along with it a sense of internal conflict or friction. Though in the moment, this can be overwhelming, loud and intense – if you allow it to, it can also serve as a catalyst for creating, building, manifesting and even learning to love oneself.

Though it may prove particularly difficult to meditate or quiet ones mind during these times, it is also very important and a key coping mechanism. Be gentle with yourself and with others. Try not to take others behavior too personally. Underneath the surface, we are all trying to navigate our own personal tensions within.

In addition to lessons in self-love and efficacy, the chart for Venus stationing retrograde places Venus in the 4th house suggesting we may find ourselves exploring issues related to our past, our home and the roots from which we came. We may also find ourselves exploring our familial relationships and the ways they have helped or hindered us in forming our own identity and creating future relationships. It is common to find oneself re-defining their sense of home or family; as well as the desire to make some deep personal changes, that may differ from the way one was raised to be or behave. Thus, altering our relationship to that which we have always found safe and familiar.

This sense of independence or need for change is fueled further by a conjunction between Mars and Uranus, also in fiery Aries. Mars is assertive and driven to action, while Uranus is unpredictable, rebellious and innovative. The combined energy of these two planets in the 4th house suggests the need to break free of traditional, outdated familial confinements – while at the same time pursuing ideals that we strongly resonate with. Whether it is where one chooses to live, what religious beliefs one carries with them, how one raises their children, spends their money, or who one decides to share and show their love – it is likely that there is some pretty substantial inner shifting taking place. However, as with any change or shift – there is also likely to be some disruption. Mars and Uranus acting together can be rambunctious and messy; it can also feel a bit selfish and cold.  A little bit of awareness and reflection can go a long way. Aim to do what is best for you without shunning others or casting a negative light on that which you’ve decided does not work for you.

Furthermore, Mars and Uranus are caught in an opposition to Jupiter in the 10th house, associated with career and one’s reputation. As Jupiter tends to magnify whatever it touches, there is the tendency for the issues that are re-aligning and simmering within to seep out, in turn affecting the way we are viewed by others – particularly in a professional sense. Finding healthy physical release may prove helpful in managing stress and preventing unnecessary outbursts or misdirecting anger.

Meanwhile, Saturn in the 1st house forms a trine to Uranus reminding us of the importance of discipline and boundaries. While Pluto, also in the 1st house, forms a square to Uranus and Jupiter – intensifying the need to both claim ones power and re-establish both the way one is viewed by others and the way one interprets their surroundings. Together, Saturn and Pluto in the 1st house suggests the need to let go of the idea of whom you’ve decided you are; the view that you’ve always had of yourself, in order to make room for the growth taking place and the person you are soon to become.

On April 4th, Venus will re-enter Pisces, calming the fiery energy of Aries. Our focus shifts and we are given a glimpse of the bigger picture; the feeling that we are all connected. The Aries energy that has been pushing us to focus on our wants and needs settles, as we become concerned with channeling a deeper, more unconditional version of ourselves.

On April 9th, Mercury will station retrograde in Taurus adding its own quirks to this strange, reflective time and further re-iterating the changing relationship between our desires, values and self-esteem and our sense of inner harmony.

Finally, on April 15th, Venus will arrive at 26° Pisces, where it will station direct and form a conjunction to Chiron. Though Venus will be direct and will have resumed its forward motion, things are not likely to feel quite right yet. Chiron is associated with both the awareness and healing of the deep existential wounds we carry within us. Chiron transits can be difficult and tumultuous. Often accompanied with the growing pains of life. This energy combined with Venus suggests we may find ourselves needing to face old wounds related to relationships, finances or ones’ image. The goal of making contact with these wounds is not to dwell on the misery and pain, but to go through it to the other side where healing takes place. Instead of casting aside and blocking out or disowning these wounds and parts of ourselves, we must learn to embrace them as part of one’s story.

As Venus begins to head back towards Aries, the focus shifts back to oneself and ones’ passions. Though Mercury will still be retrograde for another few weeks, and life still feels fuzzy and uncertain, it is likely the lessons of Venus retrograde will have helped us to achieve a greater sense of clarity regarding our wants and needs; as well as, a newly found confidence and trust in ourselves.

The specific affects of planetary transits differ based on where planets are located in one’s natal chart and where the current planets are transiting. The above is a general forecast based off a chart designed for the aspect discussed.  If you would like more personalized advice, or have questions or feedback of any kind, please send me an email!

Mercury Stations Direct 9/21, Sun Enters Libra 9/22: From Perfection to Balance

mercury

On Wednesday, September 21st, Mercury will station direct in mid-Virgo after spending the last 3 weeks retrograde. Mercury is associated with communication and the way in which we receive information. It is also associated with our thoughts and with our ability to listen.

Mercury retrograde is an “Earthly” optical illusion, where Mercury appears to be going backwards in the sky. During this time, things associated with Mercury tend to act unpredictably.  Life usually feels a bit slower, plans tend to fall through or not pan out accordingly, miscommunications are on the rise, while details often slip through the cracks. Mercury retrograde also has the tendency to fog our thoughts, distract our minds and sometimes, depending on where Mercury falls in ones’ chart, can trigger a bit of depression. The goal of the retrograde is not to bring you down or make you feel crazy, but to get you to slow down enough to objectively look at your situation and make some changes. Living in a fast paced world, it is easy to get so caught up in what we are doing that we neglect to actually direct ourselves or make sure we are in alignment with where we intend to go. Mercury retrograde helps us to self-reflect and grow, by causing us to pause, to re-think and to re-adjust our perspectives and lives.

In addition to the typical inconveniences associated with Mercury retrograde, it is likely that this retrograde through Virgo also marked a period of self-refinement and skill-tuning. It turned our focus inward, as we worked on self-integration and self-acceptance; resulting in a new awareness of the separate parts of us: our thoughts and dreams, experiences and feelings, as well as our physical body and spiritual light. These parts of us are like puzzle pieces, and with this transit, perhaps we have found a new appreciation for our own personal puzzle or in some cases figured out a new way to put the pieces together, re-inventing ourselves as we discover what we are made of.

As Mercury stations direct, we are sent into the 2-week long final phase of the retrograde, the storm period. As Mercury slows to reverse its direction, the wacky retrograde energy comes to a peak. Information that has been kept secret or lurking beneath the surface tends to reveal itself. Issues regarding commitments or agreements made during the retrograde, wherein the fine-print was not noted, become more apparent. Though Mercury is now moving in the right direction, we are not quite out of the retrograde cycle yet, and as we examine the rest of the chart – it appears there is still more change, up ahead.

Looking deeper into the chart, Mercury stations direct in the 4th house, associated with home, family and roots, amid forming aspects to the Gemini moon, the Ascendant, and Pluto. With this, we are feeling somewhat emotionally detached and somewhat emotionally strained. There may be the need to discuss matters related to home or family, address things from our familial past, and/or pressure to make some domestic changes.

The Gemini moon conjunct the Ascendant, opposing Saturn in Sagittarius, suggests the need to make your emotional information useful, especially when it comes to relationships. Though it seems obvious, as humans, we have the tendency to fall into patterns and allow them to dominate our mode of function. We take our emotional information and toss it out the window. Maybe we get our hearts broken over and over again, or we have the habit of surrounding ourselves with people who are untrustworthy, or who really don’t have our best interests at hand. Or, maybe you have a tendency to be moody and lash out at those close to you, to manipulate others, or take advantage of those who care for you. Whatever the case may be – your emotional intelligence is a valuable tool and resource. Be mindful of your ways. Pay attention to the feelings this retrograde has triggered within you.

How can you learn from and effectively use these feelings to grow?

Let your emotions fuel and educate you. Whether they seem positive or negative, there is the need to really listen to your body and self; to recognize that your emotions are there to guide you, to help inform your rational mind about what you’re intuition is experiencing. Acknowledge what you feel and trust in yourself.

On Thursday, September 22nd, less than 24 hours after Mercury stations direct, the Sun will reach the Autumnal equinox, and join Venus and Jupiter in Libra. At the time of the equinox, the amount of daytime and night time is relatively equal. There is a sense of balance in the air, as the amount of light and darkness in our days begin to level out. With the Sun entering Libra, comes a sense of calmness and the ability to see things from a more objective position. As the anxious energy of Virgo begins to subside, our attention moves from perfecting to achieving a sense of inner peace. The Libra need for balance and equilibrium becomes more apparent in our days and thoughts. Life begins to feel lighter and less rigid.

The Sun’s energy combined with that of Jupiter and Venus in Libra creates the right environment for manifesting that which is needed in order to achieve a sense of internal stability. This trio is also associated with pleasure-seeking and a sense of generosity. Be open to the gifts life has to offer, look for the little things, and appreciate the synchronicity that weaves its way throughout our experiences.

The specific affects of planetary transits differ based on where planets are located in one’s natal chart and where the current planets are transiting. The above is a general forecast based off a chart designed for the aspect discussed.  If you would like more personalized advice, or have questions or feedback of any kind, please send me an email!

Mercury Retrograde in Virgo August 30-September 21: Refining the Self

mercury

Over the last couple of months, planets have been collecting in the sign of Virgo. It began with Jupiter, which entered Virgo way back in August of 2015, followed by Mercury, which comfortably made its way into its domicile, or sign that it rules, on August 1st of this year. Venus not far behind, entered Virgo on August 6th and a few weeks later on August 22nd, the Sun too, made its way into Virgo.

This stellium in Virgo will continue to shift throughout the next month and a half; as Mercury stations retrograde and backtracks through the latter half of the sign, and the Sun and Moon create the Virgo solar eclipse and Pisces lunar eclipse. These events act to further infuse and shape our thoughts and environments with the conscientious, practical energies of Virgo.

Mercury Retrograde:

On August 30, Mercury will enter the last degree of Virgo and begin its journey backwards through the last half of the sign. With so many planets occupying Mercury ruled Virgo and Mercury approaching its station retrograde here, many of us are already feeling a bit of the retro-funk; fuzzy brained, slow motion reality, indecisiveness and a general feeling of discontentment with life.  There may be a sensation that we have been here before as we find ourselves reviewing, re-doing and revisiting themes from the last couple of weeks.

[For more on Mercury retrograde, read the following indented excerpt. For more on Mercury’s retrograde through Virgo, skip ahead!]

Mercury retrograde is an Earthly “optical illusion” where Mercury appears to be moving backwards, for 3 weeks, 3 times a year. During these times, one may notice “things” of a mercurial nature tend to go a bit awry.

As Mercury rules communication, we may find issues arise in all the many forms we use to communicate today, as well as with all those we communicate with. Mercury retrograde will affect everyone differently, however those who have strong Virgo, Gemini energy or highly aspected Mercury in their charts, may notice these periods of time to feel particularly frustrating.

As Mercury slows to station retrograde, our logic and abilities to reason may slow down with it. Most will notice their thoughts become sluggish, while at the same time creating a scatterbrained effect. It is common for listening and staying focused for extended periods of time to prove more difficult than usual; and to find that in the midst of a conversation you lose your train of thought. This often accompanied by the thought/feeling that “nothing is going right or according to plan.”

As legal agreements and contracts also fall under Mercury’s ruling, it is best not to sign or commit to anything new during these times. Retrogrades are ideal for re-visiting ideas, jobs, or relationships from the past, but attempting to begin or commit to new endeavors during these periods can backfire and is not recommended. With the constant change and the rather peculiar way of Mercury retrograde, it can be hard to predict what the outcome of situations will be. There is the tendency for whatever was agreed upon in said contract to change once Mercury goes direct.

However, in today’s world, it is difficult to stop from functioning and living in a “forward” motion. Many people find themselves in situations or careers where they must sign agreements or initiate new projects, life happens and deadlines are set, waiting until Mercury goes direct is not an option. It would be wise to be extremely cautious when/if you do find yourself in these situations, that all facts are thoroughly discussed and all fine print is carefully gone over (and over and over again). Though there are many inconveniences of its nature, (re-doing things over again being one of them) Mercury retrogrades can serve as a time for slowing down and really taking a good look at what is happening in our lives and how we can redirect things and make them better. There is no reason for fear or withdrawal from life, (though you may feel a bit more introverted during these times) but there is the need for heightened awareness, clear intentions, patience and preparation.

When Mercury is retrograde, it is a good time to expect the unexpected. Delayed flights, traffic jams at odd hours, computer/electronic malfunctions and miscommunications are often a very obvious part of the experience. Preparation is key to avoiding and overcoming such obstacles during this time. Some ways one can prepare are: allowing for more time to get from point A to point B, making copies of important documents, backing up computer files and double checking details you wouldn’t normally think twice about. When Mercury is retrograde, plans seem to never quite be set, life feels wobbly and uncertain. Leaving room for error and time for backtracking is helpful, while being uptight and trying to “fight” against the current will likely prove a waste of energy. Though we may consider these things to be inconvenient to our daily lives, they serve to help guide us. Underneath the mental fog and distractions is opportunity. Practice going with the flow.

While Mercury is retracing its path, there is increased mental ability to use retrospect in a positive way. To reassess the way we have done something, to revisit old ideas and thoughts- things that we didn’t commit to at the time but find new reason to appreciate now. There is support for reconnecting with old friends, rekindling old flames as well as the likelihood that current relationships will be under scrutiny and review.

It is common for old relationship issues that have been brushed aside to rear their head, and it is likely that with the flux in communication, it will be difficult to deliver the message so both in conversation are on the same page. It may be necessary to confirm that your message is heard and comprehended by the other party in the way in which you intended, and to make sure that you are hearing and understanding others correctly too. It is important to note, that this is really not the time to take drastic measures. Do not do anything that you cannot undo – if necessary.

Excerpt from Mercury Retrograde in Gemini

Virgo is the sign of the perfectionist; with its uncanny attention to detail, the desire to refine and improve, and the ability to visualize the most ideal, yet sometimes unrealistic outcomes. With Mercury stationing retrograde here,it is just as easy to get hung up on details as to overlook them. While it is important to be especially attentive to details during retrogrades, obsessing over flaws does not necessarily lead to solutions. Aim to be objective and open-minded.

It is important to remember that we are students of life and that our mistakes and imperfections can serve as our teachers, if we let them.  Virgo lessons tend to present themselves as lessons of humility, but this need not require obsessing over either. By providing space for us to continue to grow and directing us to the parts of us that still need some fine-tuning and adjusting, our shortcomings and failures can guide us, just the same as our talents and successes.

Virgo is also associated with a sense of apprenticeship, and the energy required to master ones’ skill. It is this intelligent, anxious energy, the one that fuels curious thoughts into carefully planned out action and seemingly finds and corrects even the smallest flaw, that allows for such mastery to eventually exist. Don’t let this energy go to waste! Allow the inconvenient ways of Mercury retrograde to assist you on your road to mastering that which you wish to create, achieve or become.

With Mercury stationing retrograde in the second house, associated with our sense of self-worth, our resources, values and our finances – there is focus on our personal inventory. Our skills, principals and doubts – all of our wonderful inspiration and horribly immobilizing fears – are up for review. With the heightened critical energy in the air, there may be inspiration to re-organize and weed through this inventory, getting rid of or at least becoming aware of that which no longer serves you.

How do your skills and thoughts define and shape your life and person that you are?

Do you allow your doubts and insecurities to paralyze you – or to stress you into action?

There may be a need to refine ones’ skill set, the desire to pursue hobbies and passions from the past, or an overwhelming eagerness to take on the role of the actual student again. Learning, re-educating, fine-tuning and updating our internal computers with the goal of increasing our self-value.

With Mercury being just a few degrees away from the cusp of the first/second house, the results of our “personal inventory” review are likely to lead to a shift relating to the skills we regularly put on display for the world to see. Things are changing, we are growing, evolving; both in the eyes of others and our own.

The chart for Mercury stationing retrograde places the Leo moon in the 12th house, suggesting a sense of inner strength. Beneath the surfacing anxiety, is the strength to persevere, to conquer and to stand proud and tall. The moon forms a trine to the lingering Mars Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius, this combination creates and fuels a sense of deep purpose and clarity that most of us don’t typically associate with that of Mercury retrograde. Despite the hiccups, confusion and periods of pause that the retrograde may trigger, there is quite a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

On September 21,  Mercury will station direct in mid-Virgo. We begin to see that there is a flexibility that exists within the rigidness of the Virgo need for perfection. That there is a method to the madness, a sense of order to the chaos, and the power to integrate the many seemingly separate parts of the puzzle of life into one beautiful masterpiece.

Hours after Mercury stations direct, the Sun will transition into Libra. The flux in energy will be a welcome one, as our thoughts become more fluid and the anxious energies that have acted as a sort of background noise are comforted by the solar shift into easy going Libra.

The Eclipses:

The Virgo and Pisces eclipses which coincide with Mercury’s retrograde, can intensify the time warp feeling of the retrograde. The slowness of the retrograde combined with the acceleration of the eclipse zone can feel confusing and uncomfortable. The pace of life tends to feel strange, unpredictable and frustrating. You may find yourself rushing to get things done, only to have to wait. Flexibility and staying on your toes is key!

Eclipses also have the tendency to bring things to awareness. With Jupiter and Mercury retrograde forming a conjunction at the exact same time as the Virgo eclipse,  we may be in for some big news. Jupiter is expansive and benevolent, it is spiritual and generous. There may be a sense of something “clicking” or gaining new understanding, as well as a sense of needing to connect to something bigger than the self.

Though retrogrades are not the ideal time to begin new ventures or projects, the eclipse zone – between September 1st and September 16th – provides just the right inertia to boost new habits and changes into our routines. Keep your head up, trust your intuition and know you can.

The Pisces lunar eclipse which closes this eclipse zone,  is exact on September 16. The eclipse takes place amidst a conjunction to Chiron, the centaur associated with our cosmic wound. This suggests there is healing that must take place. As the Sun and Moon oppose to form the eclipse, there may be a sort of magnification of old wounds. However, with the Sun, Mercury and Jupiter all opposing this in the 1oth house – there is the ability to use our wounds to propel us forward. To share our story and inspire others. At the same time, there is the ability to get sucked into the wounds and painful memories of the past and to end up playing the role of the victim. Remember the power of the mind, and again aim to stay present. Retrospect can be a gift, but re-living stressful situations just to wallow in the pain of what was, does not serve anyone. Let yourself detach from these memories, they do not define you.  Recognize your capability to play whichever role you decide, even if it is a role you have never played before.

Mars Direct in Scorpio 06/29/16: Pushing Forward

mars

On Wednesday,  June 29, Mars will station direct, completing its retrograde through the first part of Sagittarius and the last 7 degrees of Scorpio.  Mars is the planet associated with that which we desire most in life.  It is the craving we must satisfy and the lover we lust for passionately.  It is the drive to make our dreams tangible, the bravery to confront one’s fears.  It is seemingly unconquerable. Like adrenaline, Mars is the strength and energy to persevere and survive when the odds are stacked against you. With Mars retrograde the last two months, it is likely these aspects of our lives, of ourselves, have turned inward for a period of internal review and soul strengthening. Its lessons presented themselves as obstacles, such as the inability to express oneself accurately, difficulties connecting with one’s passions or inhibited creative or sexual release. Its lessons also likely inspired a sense of internal investigation leading us to question our beliefs, all that we think we know and all that we think we are. Ultimately, Mars retrograde serves to propel us forward on our journey; to get us in touch with the deep wants and callings from within, and to give us the courage to face whatever darkness we may encounter along the way.

For more on Mars retrograde, see Mars Retrograde: Rediscovering Purpose

With Mars stationing direct in the 12th house, just a degree above the Ascendant, our truth is surfacing. Attention is brought to our transforming inner thoughts. Our mind has changed, expanded to allow for a new mode of expression and being. You are more than you thought you could be. Strong, brave and ready to go. There is a deep urge to grow, to face fears and to feel fully and openly. However, where one’s truth is exposed, often, so too is one’s sense of denial. The 12th house is the house of the unconscious and secrets. With Scorpio on the cusp, we are seeking truth; personal, spiritual, physical, sexual and biological – but this cannot be found without first acknowledging whatever lies might bury it.

Mars forms a trine to Venus in the 8th house, with Cancer on the cusp. This suggests that the truths we may be coming to terms with are transforming our home, or our concept of what or where home is. Whether it is the physical structure/place, people and materials that fill it, or the spiritual and emotional connotation – change is inevitable. A shift has occurred, momentum has been accumulating, and with Mars now moving forward and our minds focused on truth – it is time to let that truth envelop one’s environment and become part of one’s story. The Sun and Mercury, also in Cancer, further emphasize the energies of the home ; perhaps the purchasing or move to a new one, re-decorating or re-financing. There is a strong feeling of needing ones identity to be adequately represented by one’s home, and making whatever changes needed to achieve this. After the instability and insecurities of the last few months, it is important to feel safe in one’s living environment, to feel free and to be able to embrace the activities and material possessions that bring joy and beauty to one’s life.

The moon in Taurus forms a sextile to the Sun in Cancer, forging the connection between how we are managing our stress and the amount of emotional energy we have to put towards our usual daily endeavors. If we are coming from a place that feels positive and capable, if the changes we are making are truly in our best interest – we are likely to find ourselves feeling peaceful and productive. Without the burdens of the past and the backward tug of the retrograde, we can move forward, re-directing our emotional output and energy. However, there is also the ability to linger in the funk of what has not played out according to desire. This can lead to a more lazy, over-indulgent behavior – so much emotional energy is being used to linger that there are limited amounts left to put towards one’s normal routine. Times are tough and it’s important to be gentle with yourself, but you must also encourage yourself to grow and to let go of that which does not serve you. The last few months have required a sense of patience with oneself, but we are at a point now, where – like Mars – it is time to push forward.

The specific affects of planetary transits differ based on where planets are located in one’s natal chart and where the current planets are transiting. The above is a general forecast based off a chart designed for the aspect discussed.  If you would like more personalized advice, or have questions or feedback of any kind, please send us an email!

Mars Retrograde in Sagittarius April 17-June 29: Rediscovering Purpose

mars

On April 17, at 5:15 am PST, Mars will station retrograde in Sagittarius, and begin its journey backwards through the first part of Sagittarius and the last 7° of Scorpio. For the next two months, the planet associated with our sense of passion, desire, sexual energy and initiating projects or ideas into action, will appear to backtrack through its orbit to where it was in mid-February – likely causing us to re-evaluate the path we have been on since then and to figure out how to re-direct our internal GPS so we may be more on track with our purpose.

Mars is associated with the things we want and crave most in life. The things we are willing to fight for and in some cases to die for; Mars is sexual, masculine and driven. It is the tension that pushes us to grow, to be courageous and to keep going when it feels like you are running on empty. With Mars stationing retrograde in Sagittarius, it is likely we will find ourselves questioning what it is that we truly want in life and where it is that we want to go.

What is it that you crave? What are you willing to fight for?

Sagittarius is a fiery sign that loves adventure, both the physical and intellectual kinds. It is associated with belief and religion and discovering the truths of life. Mars retrograde in Sagittarius may trigger a period of crisis where you find yourself scrutinizing your beliefs, thoughts and the way in which you do things. As Mars re-enters Scorpio, there may be a sense of internal imbalance, anxiety and uncertainty. There is a need to find meaning and purpose in the lives we have created for ourselves. We may find ourselves struggling with issues related to sexuality and/or allowing ourselves to openly desire that which we find ourselves being drawn to. It is easy for our personal truth to get buried over time, beneath layers of societal pressures, negative self-talk, financial burdens and fear. It may be less easy to uncover this truth, but the reward is the opportunity to be the real you.

About 7° away from Mars in Sagittarius is Saturn, suggesting that this period of review may have us changing the way in which we apply our knowledge and the way in which we relate to authority figures. What is it that you know? How do you use this knowledge?  And, is that really what you want to be doing with it? Additionally both Saturn and Mars form a trine to Venus in Aries, in the house associated with “I am”, re-emphasizing the importance of focusing on the self, on you, and what it is that makes you, you. Embrace your flaws, the things you do not do perfectly, and embrace your talents and skills that you’ve mastered. It really doesn’t matter what people think, especially when the source is pure, unbridled passion.

The moon and Jupiter in Virgo form a square to both Mars and Saturn suggesting that this need to find meaning and re-direct our lives toward purpose and passion may send us into a state of emotional extremes. There may be a need to change the way in which we regularly respond to emotionally stimulating events, or the way in which we express our emotions in general.  However, Neptune making an opposition to the moon and Jupiter encourages us to channel these mood swings creatively and reminds us to pay attention to our dreams and the messages our subconscious may be trying to deliver.

Meanwhile, Mercury in Taurus forms a square to Pluto in Capricorn, suggesting that changes taking place in regard to social status, reputation or career may be impacting and shifting finances. Mercury in Taurus, tends to bring about discussions revolving around security and money. This is an ideal time to re-organize your budget and to reconsider your relationship with money, especially since these issues related to security and finances will likely be re-visited when Mercury stations retrograde on April 28.

The next few months are likely to feel like quite a journey. Hold tight and try to make the most of it. Travelling and exploring new worlds and ways of being can  be incredibly enlightening and empowering during this time, but it can be just as enlightening and empowering to explore the inner world of you. Get in touch with yourself!  If you find yourself really struggling, try using some deep breathing techniques or meditation to help be present in your body. Affirmations can also help encourage the development of positive thoughts and help in guiding you to manifest the world you envision around you.

The specific affects of planetary transits differ based on where planets are located in one’s natal chart and where the current planets are transiting. The above is a general forecast based off a chart designed for the aspect discussed.  If you would like more personalized advice, or have questions or feedback of any kind, please send us an email!

Lunar Eclipse in Libra : Examining Me and We

reddened-moon-lunar-eclipse-101221-02

On March 8, the Sun and Moon aligned to create the total solar eclipse in Pisces. Visible over parts of the Pacific and Indonesia, this magical celestial alignment sent us into the eclipse zone, a fast paced period of time between eclipses, full of opportunity, a feeling of awakening or revelation and a sense of spiritual growth.

Eclipses tend to come packed with an energetic punch and it is common to undergo some sort of metamorphosis while in the eclipse zone. Entering the eclipse zone as a caterpillar, with the sensation that something is changing and shifting within us, and leaving it as a butterfly. Though we may be unsure of the exact process – of how this transformation we have undergone has happened – or what it even means, we have been jolted into a new phase of being.

On March 23, at 5:00 am PST, we will experience the final eclipse in this pair, a lunar eclipse in Libra. Unlike the solar eclipse that took place a few weeks ago, that went mostly unseen by the human eye, the lunar eclipse will be visible to most of Asia, Australia and parts of North and South America. With the Libra Moon in the 7th house, opposing the Sun and Mercury in the 1st house, we are feeling the tension between our independence – the person you are – and our relationships, and the person you become, when me becomes we. The moon in Libra is diplomatic, balance seeking and appreciative of the simple things. It is romantic and harmonious, but can also feel rather detached and objective. There may be a need to justify the way we are feeling, to make a list of pros and cons in regard to situations that may have recently arisen, or to find the ability to see the “other side” to a story.

Eclipses tend to bring certain aspects of life that have not yet surfaced to a quick boil. The Moon is associated with our emotional identity, and in the 7th house is very concerned with how we relate to others. With the Moon here, it may be difficult to understand or recognize others feelings, without our own emotions clouding the situation. There is a need to own ones emotions and emotional responsibilities within a relationship, really tap into what it is you are feeling and where that feeling came from. Is there a difference between what you actually feel and what you have been taught to feel in response to a situation? Eclipses are ideal times to examine our habits and patterns and their sources, in this case – our habits and relationship patterns. What unhealthy habits or patterns do you bring to your relationships and friendships? Are these patterns that you have fallen into on your own – or are these inherited patterns that you have learned and witnessed perhaps as a child? Are your responses reflective of the person that you are? Or are they simply just habits, words and minds acting on autopilot, repeating the same story that we have seen play out many times, leading to the same predictable outcome?

The Sun conjunct Mercury in Aries in the first house, says we are becoming aware of something about ourselves and it is time to discuss this information with those around us, as well as implement it into our lives and act upon it. The Sun in the first house is proud and optimistic, but can struggle with finding a balance between humility and sense of pride. It is comfortable to be proud, to feel right, worthy and inferior – humility is much less comfortable. It is not easy to admit we are not good at something, to recognize our flaws, to note that we were wrong or perhaps simply “don’t know”. But this humility is a necessary stepping stone, one that can’t be avoided no matter how hard one tries. Sometimes in order to be right, one must first realize that they have been wrong. Additionally, it is important to recognize that being “right” once, or before, doesn’t always lead to the same outcome. Life is full of opportunities. The opportunities to acknowledge, to grow and move forward, exists just the same as the opportunity to remain in denial, to find yourself repeating the same mistake over and over again, and the opportunity for stagnancy.

With Mars in Sagittarius, conjunct the Midheaven, there is the ability to develop wisdom and strength beyond the physical situations taking place; to understand the necessity of whatever tragedy or conflict occurs on the surface, and to even find peace and meaning from it. There is also the tendency to speak one’s mind, perhaps with less of a filter than usual. Whether this results in positive or negative consequences will likely depend on your honesty and integrity regarding the situation. Be true to yourself, stand up for your beliefs and your dreams but don’t forget to consider those close to you who will also be coming from a similar place.

Saturn in Sagittarius and Jupiter retrograde in Virgo meet up again to form an exact square, emphasizing the connection between our careers/social status and our relationships. It may be necessary to examine our boundaries in regard to one’s career, and the amount of energy and discipline it requires to maintain one’s social status. How do these boundaries influence your relationships and what you are able to both get out and put into them? How do your relationships influence the limits you set for yourself professionally and socially? Minor tweaks here and there can lead to big improvements. It can be hard to find a balance between career obligations and relationship responsibilities – but with a little compromise – it is possible and it is also much more rewarding then constantly feeling like you are on a see-saw.

As the lunar eclipse peaks and passes, we will likely go through a relatively uncomfortable period of adjustment, just as a butterfly must adjust to its new found wings. Whatever has been brought into your awareness, whatever inner spark has been lit – pay attention to it; let it push you to improve, to grow and to be the person that you aspire to be.

Pisces Total Solar Eclipse : A Window of Opportunity, March 8, 2016

solar eclipse

Less than a week after ringing in the 2016 New Year, Mercury stationed retrograde in the 1st degree of Aquarius and made its way back through the latter half of Capricorn. The beginning of the year, a time normally associated with resolutions, consciously changing our habits and taking responsibility for ourselves and the way in which we live, became a time of pause, review, reflection and distraction.  It is common to enter the New Year with a positive, ambitious mindset; that you will finally take charge of the changes you want to make and quit the habits that must be broken. However, with the fog, interferences, unpredictability and backwards tug of Mercury retrograde – it is likely many of our resolutions and goals have spent more time on the back burner than they have guiding us to make the positive changes we had intended. It isn’t that these ideas, plans or thoughts have escaped us – in fact, there is a good chance that these ideas continue to brew and simmer beneath the surface, giving us a little kick in the butt every now and then to remind us to get back on track – but they have not been our driving force.

It is easy to give into the obstacles life throws at you, to give up on pursuing dreams and fall into the trap of “making ends meet”, or managing struggle after struggle. It can be much more difficult to take responsibility, to confront your inner demons and to realize that maybe the reason you’re floundering is because you have yet to take responsibility. Maybe the reason you have not been able to save money, is because you continue to spend it unwisely. Or the reason your relationships are not fulfilling, is because you, yourself, have failed to acknowledge your own needs; and the reason you have not lost weight – because you have not changed your diet or begun exercising. It is easy to blame life and others for the actions we are too scared or lazy to take – but, that is not likely to get us very far on the road to accomplishing our goals and happiness. So, why settle for defeat, when you could just as easily choose success?

We are about to enter a time of great possibilities and revelation. The perfect combination of celestial energies to breathe life into our dreams and intentions, and help us to implement the changes we must make in order to better cope and thrive, both emotionally and physically, will soon be upon us. An alignment of planets in Pisces, including a total solar eclipse, forming aspects to Jupiter and Saturn, will soon provide us with the gifts of opportunity, insight and manifestation.

On March 8, at about 5:57 pm PST, shortly after the Sun and Moon disappear below the horizon, the total solar eclipse will peak over the Pacific Ocean and parts of Indonesia. Eclipses typically occur in pairs, a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse, separated by two weeks. These two weeks, the eclipse zone, tend to present us with opportunities, tools and clues, as well as a time of rapidly accelerated growth and bringing to light issues that we have kept in the dark, either consciously or unconsciously. They are windows of chance and the ideal time to integrate new habits and end toxic patterns.

Pisces represents the last phase in a cycle, the metamorphosis that occurs when the leaves of autumn fall and the flowers of spring sneak up on us.  Pisces is a compassionate, creative sign. Ruled by Jupiter and Neptune, it is associated with dreams, intuition and the ability to manifest and heal. Pisces is the bridge to the other side of consciousness, the thin veil that separates the thoughts we think and emotions we feel, from the physical world that we experience in front of us.

This eclipse in Pisces represents a kind of spiritual culmination. In the New Year, we move forward in time, according to our calendar year. With this new moon/solar eclipse, we are given the chance to move forward spiritually, according to our souls calling.

With the eclipse making a conjunction to Chiron, and Mercury and Neptune close by in Pisces, in the 6th house, there may be an overwhelming sensation of everything happening all at once. The Sun and Moon, both representing different facets of our identity, our ego and emotional identity, merging together in the house associated with our daily tasks, health, work and the way in which we refine our skills – suggests an inner alignment or awakening between our thoughts and heart; there is a need to practice what you preach, and for the way you view yourself, to align with the person that you actually are. With honest self-examination and an objective perspective, awareness will develop and likely direct our attention back to plans and life changes that we may have pushed to the side in the past. It is time to consciously refine our daily routines, improve our ability to cope, take responsibility for our health and make our lives a more accommodating environment for our successes to grow.

Jupiter conjunct the Ascendant in Virgo is opposite all the action in Pisces. Jupiter is associated with luck, gifts and opportunities. It is expansive and benevolent and with its energy tied into the equation there is even more support in manifesting that which our intent is focused. However, misguided intent is still intent, so it is important to pay attention to your thoughts and be responsible for the world you envision, especially since Jupiter in Virgo can feel anxious and critical. Positive thoughts will lead to positive changes, while negative thoughts will likely only bring about more distraction. Own your personal power, aim your arrows high and as always, be gentle with yourself and those around you.

Saturn midway through Sagittarius in the 3rd house forms a square to both Jupiter and the stellium in Pisces, adding a sense of order and helping us to know there is purpose in all that we have been experiencing.

The acceleration of the eclipse zone is likely to be felt throughout the next few weeks, until March 23, when the Moon and Sun create the lunar penumbral eclipse, bringing an end to this round of eclipses.
