Mercury Stations Direct 9/21, Sun Enters Libra 9/22: From Perfection to Balance

On Wednesday, September 21st, Mercury will station direct in mid-Virgo after spending the last 3 weeks retrograde. Mercury is associated with communication and the way in which we receive information. It is also associated with our thoughts and with our ability to listen.

Mercury retrograde is an “Earthly” optical illusion, where Mercury appears to be going backwards in the sky. During this time, things associated with Mercury tend to act unpredictably.  Life usually feels a bit slower, plans tend to fall through or not pan out accordingly, miscommunications are on the rise, while details often slip through the cracks. Mercury retrograde also has the tendency to fog our thoughts, distract our minds and sometimes, depending on where Mercury falls in ones’ chart, can trigger a bit of depression. The goal of the retrograde is not to bring you down or make you feel crazy, but to get you to slow down enough to objectively look at your situation and make some changes. Living in a fast paced world, it is easy to get so caught up in what we are doing that we neglect to actually direct ourselves or make sure we are in alignment with where we intend to go. Mercury retrograde helps us to self-reflect and grow, by causing us to pause, to re-think and to re-adjust our perspectives and lives.

In addition to the typical inconveniences associated with Mercury retrograde, it is likely that this retrograde through Virgo also marked a period of self-refinement and skill-tuning. It turned our focus inward, as we worked on self-integration and self-acceptance; resulting in a new awareness of the separate parts of us: our thoughts and dreams, experiences and feelings, as well as our physical body and spiritual light. These parts of us are like puzzle pieces, and with this transit, perhaps we have found a new appreciation for our own personal puzzle or in some cases figured out a new way to put the pieces together, re-inventing ourselves as we discover what we are made of.

As Mercury stations direct, we are sent into the 2-week long final phase of the retrograde, the storm period. As Mercury slows to reverse its direction, the wacky retrograde energy comes to a peak. Information that has been kept secret or lurking beneath the surface tends to reveal itself. Issues regarding commitments or agreements made during the retrograde, wherein the fine-print was not noted, become more apparent. Though Mercury is now moving in the right direction, we are not quite out of the retrograde cycle yet, and as we examine the rest of the chart – it appears there is still more change, up ahead.

Looking deeper into the chart, Mercury stations direct in the 4th house, associated with home, family and roots, amid forming aspects to the Gemini moon, the Ascendant, and Pluto. With this, we are feeling somewhat emotionally detached and somewhat emotionally strained. There may be the need to discuss matters related to home or family, address things from our familial past, and/or pressure to make some domestic changes.

The Gemini moon conjunct the Ascendant, opposing Saturn in Sagittarius, suggests the need to make your emotional information useful, especially when it comes to relationships. Though it seems obvious, as humans, we have the tendency to fall into patterns and allow them to dominate our mode of function. We take our emotional information and toss it out the window. Maybe we get our hearts broken over and over again, or we have the habit of surrounding ourselves with people who are untrustworthy, or who really don’t have our best interests at hand. Or, maybe you have a tendency to be moody and lash out at those close to you, to manipulate others, or take advantage of those who care for you. Whatever the case may be – your emotional intelligence is a valuable tool and resource. Be mindful of your ways. Pay attention to the feelings this retrograde has triggered within you.

How can you learn from and effectively use these feelings to grow?

Let your emotions fuel and educate you. Whether they seem positive or negative, there is the need to really listen to your body and self; to recognize that your emotions are there to guide you, to help inform your rational mind about what you’re intuition is experiencing. Acknowledge what you feel and trust in yourself.

On Thursday, September 22nd, less than 24 hours after Mercury stations direct, the Sun will reach the Autumnal equinox, and join Venus and Jupiter in Libra. At the time of the equinox, the amount of daytime and night time is relatively equal. There is a sense of balance in the air, as the amount of light and darkness in our days begin to level out. With the Sun entering Libra, comes a sense of calmness and the ability to see things from a more objective position. As the anxious energy of Virgo begins to subside, our attention moves from perfecting to achieving a sense of inner peace. The Libra need for balance and equilibrium becomes more apparent in our days and thoughts. Life begins to feel lighter and less rigid.

The Sun’s energy combined with that of Jupiter and Venus in Libra creates the right environment for manifesting that which is needed in order to achieve a sense of internal stability. This trio is also associated with pleasure-seeking and a sense of generosity. Be open to the gifts life has to offer, look for the little things, and appreciate the synchronicity that weaves its way throughout our experiences.

Lunar Eclipse in Libra : Examining Me and We

On March 8, the Sun and Moon aligned to create the total solar eclipse in Pisces. Visible over parts of the Pacific and Indonesia, this magical celestial alignment sent us into the eclipse zone, a fast paced period of time between eclipses, full of opportunity, a feeling of awakening or revelation and a sense of spiritual growth.

Eclipses tend to come packed with an energetic punch and it is common to undergo some sort of metamorphosis while in the eclipse zone. Entering the eclipse zone as a caterpillar, with the sensation that something is changing and shifting within us, and leaving it as a butterfly. Though we may be unsure of the exact process – of how this transformation we have undergone has happened – or what it even means, we have been jolted into a new phase of being.

On March 23, at 5:00 am PST, we will experience the final eclipse in this pair, a lunar eclipse in Libra. Unlike the solar eclipse that took place a few weeks ago, that went mostly unseen by the human eye, the lunar eclipse will be visible to most of Asia, Australia and parts of North and South America. With the Libra Moon in the 7th house, opposing the Sun and Mercury in the 1st house, we are feeling the tension between our independence – the person you are – and our relationships, and the person you become, when me becomes we. The moon in Libra is diplomatic, balance seeking and appreciative of the simple things. It is romantic and harmonious, but can also feel rather detached and objective. There may be a need to justify the way we are feeling, to make a list of pros and cons in regard to situations that may have recently arisen, or to find the ability to see the “other side” to a story.

Eclipses tend to bring certain aspects of life that have not yet surfaced to a quick boil. The Moon is associated with our emotional identity, and in the 7th house is very concerned with how we relate to others. With the Moon here, it may be difficult to understand or recognize others feelings, without our own emotions clouding the situation. There is a need to own ones emotions and emotional responsibilities within a relationship, really tap into what it is you are feeling and where that feeling came from. Is there a difference between what you actually feel and what you have been taught to feel in response to a situation? Eclipses are ideal times to examine our habits and patterns and their sources, in this case – our habits and relationship patterns. What unhealthy habits or patterns do you bring to your relationships and friendships? Are these patterns that you have fallen into on your own – or are these inherited patterns that you have learned and witnessed perhaps as a child? Are your responses reflective of the person that you are? Or are they simply just habits, words and minds acting on autopilot, repeating the same story that we have seen play out many times, leading to the same predictable outcome?

The Sun conjunct Mercury in Aries in the first house, says we are becoming aware of something about ourselves and it is time to discuss this information with those around us, as well as implement it into our lives and act upon it. The Sun in the first house is proud and optimistic, but can struggle with finding a balance between humility and sense of pride. It is comfortable to be proud, to feel right, worthy and inferior – humility is much less comfortable. It is not easy to admit we are not good at something, to recognize our flaws, to note that we were wrong or perhaps simply “don’t know”. But this humility is a necessary stepping stone, one that can’t be avoided no matter how hard one tries. Sometimes in order to be right, one must first realize that they have been wrong. Additionally, it is important to recognize that being “right” once, or before, doesn’t always lead to the same outcome. Life is full of opportunities. The opportunities to acknowledge, to grow and move forward, exists just the same as the opportunity to remain in denial, to find yourself repeating the same mistake over and over again, and the opportunity for stagnancy.

With Mars in Sagittarius, conjunct the Midheaven, there is the ability to develop wisdom and strength beyond the physical situations taking place; to understand the necessity of whatever tragedy or conflict occurs on the surface, and to even find peace and meaning from it. There is also the tendency to speak one’s mind, perhaps with less of a filter than usual. Whether this results in positive or negative consequences will likely depend on your honesty and integrity regarding the situation. Be true to yourself, stand up for your beliefs and your dreams but don’t forget to consider those close to you who will also be coming from a similar place.

Saturn in Sagittarius and Jupiter retrograde in Virgo meet up again to form an exact square, emphasizing the connection between our careers/social status and our relationships. It may be necessary to examine our boundaries in regard to one’s career, and the amount of energy and discipline it requires to maintain one’s social status. How do these boundaries influence your relationships and what you are able to both get out and put into them? How do your relationships influence the limits you set for yourself professionally and socially? Minor tweaks here and there can lead to big improvements. It can be hard to find a balance between career obligations and relationship responsibilities – but with a little compromise – it is possible and it is also much more rewarding then constantly feeling like you are on a see-saw.

As the lunar eclipse peaks and passes, we will likely go through a relatively uncomfortable period of adjustment, just as a butterfly must adjust to its new found wings. Whatever has been brought into your awareness, whatever inner spark has been lit – pay attention to it; let it push you to improve, to grow and to be the person that you aspire to be.

Venus in Virgo 10/8, Mercury Stations Direct in Libra 10/9 : Coming Full Circle

Over the past couple of months, we experienced both Venus and Mercury stationing retrograde. Venus stationed retrograde at 1° Virgo on July 25th, and backtracked through the latter half of Leo, where it stationed direct on September 9th. On October 8th, Venus reaches Virgo again – likely, bringing to closure on some level, many of the issues we have been addressing since it stationed retrograde, as well as in a sense bringing us back to “where we were” around the end of July, with a fresh perspective and likely a change in values.

For more on Venus retrograde through Leo, check out Leaving The Comfort Zone

With Venus moving into Virgo, we are able to finally move forward beyond the ties to this most recent retrograde. Revisiting Leo allowed us another glimpse at the “big picture” in regard to our relationships, our finances and our values. Now in Virgo, we are able to fine tune the details – to work out all the kinks and REALLY integrate and seal in these new ways of being; tending to our seeds of intent, knowing that soon we will reap what we have sown.

Whereas Venus in Leo thrives on the attention and dramatics of the situation, Venus in Virgo is more about being validated and genuinely appreciated. Venus in Leo is fun, loving and always looking to play, but Venus in Virgo is critical, hard-working and looking to serve. There is a time to play, but there is also a time to work and with Venus in Leo for the past few months, it may have been easy to overlook our daily obligations. However, with Venus in Virgo making a square to Saturn in Sagittarius, play time is over for now. It is time to acknowledge our commitments and responsibilities; to practice integrity and sticking to the new values and goals we have created for ourselves.

Additionally, Virgo is associated with our health and our daily routines and habits. With Venus here it is important to take care of ones’ health. If you have been putting off getting something checked out or over-indulging in particularly unhealthy habits – health issues may begin to rear their head. Be sure to stay on top of your well-being: physical, mental and spiritual.

Early on the morning of October 9th, Mercury stations direct in the 1° Libra. Mercury’s recent retrograde through Venus ruled Libra hit on many of the same issues we had been sorting out with the Venus retrograde, but likely shed a new light on them. One that is more contemplative and analytical and less about the heartfelt connection. With Mercury stationing direct in 1° of Libra, we begin the storm phase, our journey back to where Mercury stationed retrograde. As Mercury slows to station direct and begins to head in the “right” direction, we will likely endure a bit more of the wacky retrograde energy before we are entirely in the clear.

Here is an excerpt on Mercury stationing direct from an earlier Starface post, Staying Dry Through The Storm:

“When Mercury stations direct, it appears to stop and slowly begin to move forward again. As Mercury is a quick moving planet – it doesn’t take long before it appears to pick up momentum and increase in its forward motion. It takes Mercury about two weeks to finally get up to speed, and it is this period of time we refer to as the Storm phase. Storm can make it sound scarier and more intense than it really is. Just as Mercury retrograde should not instill fear, neither should the Storm phase. Awareness, however, always comes in handy. There will be no hurricane, no massive flooding. Maybe some thunder and lightening, but I suggest thinking of it, at least metaphorically, as a downpour of rain, washing away the past, hydrating plants and life. It may be dark and dreary, visibility may be low and we may not quite know where we are going – but after we are left with rainbows, blue skies and beautiful greenery – refreshed with a sense of clarity.”

For a re-cap on Mercury retrograde through Libra, check out Re-Calibrating the Scales

As Mercury moves ahead in Libra, we will likely feel the tug of ourselves pulling away from older traits and ways of being, and moving fully into this “new” version of ourselves. We will notice our communications slowly improve, as well as the tension, doubt and feelings of instability slowly beginning to melt away. However, with Mars and the Moon forming a conjunction in Virgo, the tension in the air is re-enforced a bit longer, and we may find it hard not to act on emotions and/or to be critical of others. Whereas during the retrograde it was not the best time to act on ones feelings, Saturn making a square to the Moon, Venus and Mars suggests that now is the time. We have re-evaluated our thoughts, our ways, our wants and our needs and have arrived at some sort of solution as to how we are going to move forward from here. Now, with both Venus and Mercury direct, we take our first step.

With Mercury direct and Venus back in Virgo – we are ready to move forward, to get on to the next project, and/or for things to go back to “normal”. However, with the Sun approaching an opposition to Uranus, we are re-defining what our “normal” mode of function is, as we come full circle in this retrograde cycle.

Meanwhile, Neptune in Pisces opposing the stellium of planets in Virgo reminds us of the importance of incorporating true creativity and heart into everything we do, while at the same time reminding us to be real and honest with ourselves as we begin this new journey.

Aries Lunar Eclipse: Conciously Moving Towards Peace

The Aries lunar eclipse will take place this Sunday, September 27 at 7:50 pm PST. Unlike the solar eclipse in Virgo that took place on September 13, which was only visible from a small portion of the planet, the Aries lunar eclipse or blood moon, will be a sight most will be able to witness, and won’t want to miss out on.

As Earthlings, we see our moon on a daily basis. Whether a sliver or a whole pie, our nights are lit by its illuminating white glow. During a lunar eclipse, the moon passes through the shadow of the Earth, casting a red tint onto our usually white satellite. This event happens roughly two to four times a year, each time accompanied by a solar eclipse a few weeks prior or after; sometimes with more dramatic visuals than others. Sometimes with more dramatic astrological influences than others.

As mentioned in previous blogs, the specific ways in which transits may affect one another depend on where the planets are in ones’ natal chart. For deeper discussion on how the energy of the eclipse may be affecting your life, order a Starface Natal Chart, or send me an email!

Eclipses represent periods of new beginnings, and with the moon in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac – this energy is further stressed. We have been going through a time of reflection and transition, with the Venus retrograde we experienced in July/August, and now Mercury retrograde re-triggering the same or related issues, there is likely an anxious desire to get on with things and to really let go of that which has been weighing us down. Venus addressed this in a more physical, outward way, as it traveled backwards through bold, dramatic, over-the-top Leo. While Mercury in Libra addresses things in a more mental, introspective way – with a bit more tact and a lot less theatrics. Retrogrades, as mentioned in Re-Calibrating the Scales, are not ideal times to make new commitments or drastic changes. However, Mercury retrograde has a way of helping us to re-evaluate our thoughts and re-direct them to better serve us. With this lunar eclipse taking place in Aries in the 12th house, and with Saturn approaching 1° Sagittarius – we are being pushed into a new cycle. This cycle is likely to be one in which we find ourselves addressing the thoughts that we have on a daily basis, and how they impact our sense of balance and our sense of beauty in the world.

The moon in Aries suggests an outward expression of confidence in ones emotions and feelings, while inside there may be a struggle to align oneself with this facade. In the 12th house, the deepest part of our psyche is emphasized. The things we are thinking about, even when we don’t think we are thinking. The thoughts that have become so ingrained in our beings, that we don’t even need to think them –  we just act on them. With the moon here, more specifically the lunar eclipse taking place here, there is the power and ability to access this “space” and take control of it.

Most people in the world are on a search for peace. Whether it be world peace or inner peace, there is an innate need for each and everyone of us to find our own sense of calm and belonging in the world. It is hard to achieve this when and if your thoughts that act as your daily mental chatter are waging war inside your head. Indecisiveness that expresses as a sense of internal battle, or negative self talk so critical it is paralyzing, constantly comparing and judging oneself and accomplishments against those of others – there are many ways in which our thoughts regularly “attack” us – disturbing not only our emotional state, but our physiological state and the way in which we function and project ourselves to the rest of the world.

The moon in Aries, making a trine to Saturn in Sagittarius suggests it is time to address the thoughts that we have allowed us to define ourselves by, and to consciously aim our arrow of intent as high as we can –  allowing our belief in ourselves to soar as well. Life is a journey in self-growth, and with Saturn in Sagittarius, we feel it is our mission to better ourselves. However, with Venus, Mars and Jupiter each loosely squaring Saturn, the shift to focusing on oneself, takes energy and attention away from other areas we may be used to spending our time on. Whether this presents itself in relationships, careers, friendships or hobbies, it will likely be more of a mental and emotional shift than a shift of environment. Pay attention to what you feel. Allow this shift of perspective to see yourself more clearly, to enlighten you and to motivate you. With focused intent, a foundation of passion AND the belief in oneself, anything is possible.

Mars and Jupiter both Virgo in the 5th house suggest there may be a sense of criticism or hyper-focusing on imperfections, in regards to ones creativity, as well as a sense of sexual restriction and/or anxiety. With the moon in Mars ruled Aries, there is likely a connection between the need to calm ones thoughts and the ability to find appreciation in ones creativity and release through sexuality. Constructive criticism can be helpful, but isn’t always necessary. Sometimes all that is needed to recognize the beauty, is to simply experience the raw creative energy, to let it flow without judgement. To accept it as a form of expression and a message from the soul.

Venus, now direct in Leo, in the 4th house presents us with more positive, easy going vibes on the home front, or among “family”. Tension will still have its ebbs and flows, but it is better than the stagnant feeling that seemed to be looming during the retrograde. Again, things are shifting and transitioning.

Pluto in Capricorn, approaching a conjunction to the Midheaven and sextile to Chiron, again reiterates the change we are experiencing, and the need to be practical and methodical in our approach, as well as the importance of setting realistic goals. It may also be necessary to heal certain karmic wounds in order to evolve into the person we are striving to become. The growing pains of life are less than enjoyable, but without them, our development would be incomplete and in some cases completely halted. Doing what’s right for oneself in the long run isn’t always the choice one wants to make when they find themselves caught up in the moment, it takes being responsible, self-discipline and likely some kind of sacrifice. But in this case, there is the need for heightened awareness and to rise above the need for instant gratification.

Additionally, Mercury will be retrograde for another two weeks still. Remember to confirm details and to leave time and room for error. As well as to be mindful of your communications with others – as there is the tendency for information to be misinterpreted.

Mercury Retrograde in Libra 9/17/15 – 10/09/15: Re-Calibrating the Scales

On Thursday, September 17th, Mercury stations retrograde in Libra for the next 3 weeks, bringing with it the tendency for “things” of a mercurial nature to behave unpredictably. For those who are sensitive to the change in energies, it is likely you have already felt this shift, since Mercury entered its shadow period on August 28th. As Mercury slows to station retrograde, logic becomes harder to access and life feels fuzzy. However, in addition to Mercury stationing retrograde this week, we are still in the midst of the eclipse zone, caught between last weeks Solar Eclipse in Virgo, and the  September 27th Lunar Eclipse in Aries. The energy of the eclipse zone is very different from that of Mercury retrograde. During the period between eclipses, there is a feeling of acceleration through life. It is a time to really integrate change and has the potential to lock in new habits while eliminating others. With Mercury stationing retrograde during this time, we are likely to feel a sense of time warp. We also may find ourselves feeling a bit more emotionally erratic than usual. Pay attention to what you are feeling. Reflection is the goal here, as it is not the best time to act on one’s emotions.

As Mercury traces its path backwards through Venus ruled Libra, it is likely we will again be forced to deal with and re-consider issues pertaining to Venus’ recent retrograde.  Many of us have found ourselves making adjustments to our relationships and / or work life, we have been reviewing our values and our relationships with people and things we treasure most. Perhaps you’ve decided to pursue dreams that involve changing careers, maybe even going back to school. Maybe you’ve finally acknowledged a call from within to express your creativity. Maybe you have been struggling with imbalance in relationships – exerting more energy than your friends or partners – and have therefore decided to spend more time on you. Either way, getting to this point or realization has not necessarily been a walk in the park, and with Mercury retrograde triggering these issues in Libra – we may find we are not quite done processing and re-designing our new plan.

Libra is the sign associated with the Scales of Justice. Libra is gracious, fair, and has the uncanny ability to see things from multiple angles. There is a sense of serenity and great beauty associated with Libra.  There is a need to create and project balance and aesthetics into the world. Venus retrograde had us re-aligning our heart with our souls intention, and now Mercury retrograde is here to help us re-align our mind with our heart and soul. The process of getting things into alignment can be tricky, as those of you familiar with Mercury retrograde can attest to. For those of you less familiar with the details surrounding Mercury retrograde, here is an excerpt from an older Starface Astrology blog:

Mercury retrograde is an Earthly “optical illusion” where Mercury appears to be moving backwards, for 3 weeks, 3 times a year. During these times, one may notice “things” of a mercurial nature tend to go a bit awry.

As Mercury rules communication, we may find issues arise in all the many forms we use to communicate today, as well as with all those we communicate with. Mercury retrograde will affect everyone differently, however those who have strong Virgo, Gemini energy or highly aspected Mercury in their charts, may notice these periods of time to feel particularly frustrating. [Additionally, with Mercury in Libra, those with strong Libra, Taurus or highly aspected Venus are likely to be more sensitive to this retrograde.]

Want to learn more about how these transits may affect you personally? Email me.

As Mercury slows to station retrograde, our logic and abilities to reason may slow down with it. Most will notice their thoughts become sluggish, while at the same time creating a scatterbrained effect. It is common for listening and staying focused for extended periods of time to prove more difficult than usual; and to find that in the midst of a conversation you lose your train of thought. This often accompanied by the thought/feeling that “nothing is going right or according to plan.”

As legal agreements and contracts also fall under Mercury’s ruling, it is best not to sign or commit to anything new during these times. Retrogrades are ideal for re-visiting ideas, jobs, or relationships from the past, but attempting to begin or commit to new endeavors during these periods can backfire and is not recommended. With the constant change and the rather peculiar way of Mercury retrograde, it can be hard to predict what the outcome of situations will be. There is the tendency for whatever was agreed upon in said contract to change once Mercury goes direct.

However, in today’s world, it is difficult to stop from functioning and living in a “forward” motion. Many people find themselves in situations or careers where they must sign agreements or initiate new projects, life happens and deadlines are set, waiting until Mercury goes direct is not an option. It would be wise to be extremely cautious when/if you do find yourself in these situations, that all facts are thoroughly discussed and all fine print is carefully gone over (and over and over again). Though there are many inconveniences of its nature, (re-doing things over again being one of them) Mercury retrogrades can serve as a time for slowing down and really taking a good look at what is happening in our lives and how we can redirect things and make them better. There is no reason for fear or withdrawal from life, (though you may feel a bit more introverted during these times) but there is the need for heightened awareness, clear intentions, patience and preparation.

When Mercury is retrograde, it is a good time to expect the unexpected. Delayed flights, traffic jams at odd hours, computer/electronic malfunctions and miscommunications are often a very obvious part of the experience. Preparation is key to avoiding and overcoming such obstacles during this time. Some ways one can prepare are: allowing for more time to get from point A to point B, making copies of important documents, backing up computer files and double checking details you wouldn’t normally think twice about. When Mercury is retrograde, plans seem to never quite be set, life feels wobbly and uncertain. Leaving room for error and time for backtracking is helpful, while being uptight and trying to “fight” against the current will likely prove a waste of energy. Though we may consider these things to be inconvenient to our daily lives, they serve to help guide us. Underneath the mental fog and distractions is opportunity. Practice going with the flow.

While Mercury is retracing its path, there is increased mental ability to use retrospect in a positive way. To reassess the way we have done something, to revisit old ideas and thoughts- things that we didn’t commit to at the time but find new reason to appreciate now. There is support for reconnecting with old friends, rekindling old flames as well as the likely hood that current relationships will be under scrutiny and review. It is common for old relationship issues that have been brushed aside to rear their head, and it is likely that with the flux in communication, it will be difficult to deliver the message so both in conversation are on the same page. It may be necessary to confirm that your message is heard and comprehended by the other party in the way in which you intended, and to make sure that you are hearing and understanding others correctly too. It is important to note, that this is really not the time to take drastic measures. Do not do anything that you cannot undo – if necessary.

In addition to the usual quirks of Mercury retrograde, as Mercury backtracks through Libra it will continue to highlight our relationships. Any unresolved issues that are still lingering around since Venus stationed direct will require our attention. There is a need to achieve balance, to relieve unnecessary stress and find peace. However, with Mercury retrograde in diplomatic Libra, we may find our ability to play fair under strain. Continuing to address issues that have been causing us stress and occupying much of our attention over the last 2 months gets old, and patience may be wearing thin.

Some may find they are tired of acting diplomatically and trying to remain even keeled. In this case, it may be time to re-evaluate how you’ve been handling your emotions in regard to this situation. Have you allowed your needs to go unmet? Emotional outbursts and strong feelings of anger, may indicate you have not been honestly or effectively communicating your needs. Re-consider your methods and revise your message. On the other hand, the Libran ability to see things from more than one perspective may allow others to awaken to the fact that perhaps they’ve been the one taking their partners, friends, etc. for granted. Maybe you are typically angry and argumentative, but feeling rather empathetic and understanding. This may serve as a time for you to better see where your partner is coming from, in turn helping you to realize that maybe the scales are not as balanced as you thought. Remember, it is necessary to own up to one’s actions and habits in order for the scales to balance evenly. The sooner we take responsibility for ourselves, the easier it will be to successfully navigate this retrograde.

In addition to Mercury stationing retrograde and the eclipses, the opposition between Neptune and Jupiter will be exact, further blurring the lines of reality.  Make sure to double check everything and to read the fine print. If something feels too good to be true, investigate deeper. This is not a time to over look facts and minor details.

Saturn makes its official journey into Sagittarius, after re-visiting the last bit of Scorpio over the last 3 months.  Despite the fog that is likely to fill our heads over the next 3 weeks while Mercury is retrograde, Saturn in Sagittarius is driven and focused.  Saturn requires we work hard, but provides us with the discipline and boundaries necessary to achieve whatever we put our mind to. Keep your head up and your eyes on the prize.

Venus Retrograde Trine Uranus

This morning Venus and the Moon both make aspects to Uranus, this suggesting it can be an emotionally erratic time. Uranus is unpredictable and can sometimes be a bit disastrous, but it can also be extremely inventive and creative, and is a great problem solver!

Uranus opposing the Moon and trining Venus retrograde gives us innovative energy to find and create solutions to issues that have arisen or become more prevalent since July 25, when Venus stationed retrograde. Uranus is original, smart and is helpful at offering a different perspective on things. At the same time, it can create a feeling of detachment, the need for emotional freedom and independence. This can be helpful, as detaching from situations/people/ideas can allow for a more objective look. It is important to examine the roots of our emotions from time to time. How much of what you feel is influenced by others? Are you being easily affected by others moods and stress? It is true that we have control over our feelings, but it is also true that our environment and those we share it with play an impact on our mood as well. Try to allow this “detachment” to help bring you more in touch with what you are feeling, instead of disconnecting.

Unpredictable Uranus can also trigger the tendency for unexpected issues to rear their head. Being as present as possible, flexible and understanding is beneficial, as one can make a conscious effort to be a part of the solution and keep a positive attitude, instead of overreacting and exacerbating the problem.

With the Moon in the 1st house, we are our emotions. Libra on the cusp here suggests there is the need to create or find a sense of peace. Life has been a place of extremes lately. All or nothing. Libra’s presence on the Ascendant reminds us balance is essential and should be part of our goal.

Venus retrograde has likely shifted our perspective and the way we normally respond to things, as we have re-evaluated our wants, needs and values. With another few weeks left on her backwards journey from Virgo into Leo, we can expect this rather introspective time of examining that which we love and find pleasure in to continue a bit longer. For more on Venus retrograde, check out Venus Retrograde in Leo 7/25-9/06.

Additionally, Chiron opposes Mercury and trines Saturn – it is likely we may have to address something that we would much rather not – Chiron and Saturn are present to remind us that this is part of the growth process, problems unacknowledged cannot be fixed. Awareness, though sometimes painful, is a necessary part of change.

Changing For The Better: Venus Rx Conjunct Jupiter, Mercury and Sun

On August 1st, Venus made it’s way back into Leo where it joined Jupiter, Mercury and the Sun. With Leo beaming its glorious glow through 4 planets there is the tendency for things to become dramatic and/or over the top, as we engage and interact with the bolder aspects of the personalities around us. Additionally, we may feel the fire in the sky fueling our passion and heightening our creativity.

Throughout the next week and a half, as Venus’ retrograde path collides with the 3 forward moving planets, we will witness a sort of planetary dance, in conjunction form. The first pair of partners will be Venus and Jupiter, then Venus will move onto dance with Mercury, then Mercury and Jupiter will have their turn to dance. Venus will continue back through Leo, and dance  its final dosey doe, as it conjuncts the Sun on August 16. With so many planets so close together in Leo – there will likely be an element of tension in the air increasing the probability of clashing egos. This tension may also fuel the need to address recent changes to our values system and project them into the outside world. However, with Venus on its backwards track, we are still re-evaluating and it is likely that that which has changed will continue to morph as Venus makes contact with each planet.

As Venus, planet of love and values, meets up with Jupiter, the planet of luck and manifestation, Mercury, the planet of communication and mental awareness, and the Sun, planet associated with our identity – we are reviewing and reconsidering what it is we want in life and what we are willing to sacrifice in order to make these ideals/things happen. Will it take being brave and bold and confronting ones fears? Will it take giving up leisure activities to spend more time focusing on improving ones skills? Will it take risking certain goals to attain others? Will it take making compromises in relationships in order to stay with the person we love? Are we content with life, with no need to make change – and if so, is that the same thing as happiness?

While we find ourselves reflecting over our values, our wants and needs –  the activity taking place in the 11th house – suggests that though we may all handle our battles differently, there is a sense of understanding on a larger scale, that each of us is struggling similarly to create balance amidst the energy’s tug of war. Turning to ones community and friends may bring unexpected comfort and bonding, as relating through “co-misery” triggers healing of deep rooted issues relating to loneliness and helps us to see that our mistakes and flaws don’t need to define us – but we can let them serve, guide and better us.

As Saturn, now direct, transits the 2nd house, our sense of reality shifts as our security is jolted. With Scorpio on the cusp and Saturn making a square to Jupiter, Venus and Mercury, things may feel scary and uncertain, yet at the same time have a comforting familiarity about them. Saturn triggers change necessary to evolve and grow and as it makes a square to our re-evaluating of that which we love and value – we are being pushed to grow, urged to blossom, move beyond our comfort zone and establish new boundaries with both ourselves and others.

With Libra on the Ascendant, making a square to Pluto and opposition to Uranus – we are given the opportunity to diplomatically address issues that have been looming beneath the surface. We are given the opportunity to see both sides of the equation, to acknowledge the ideals and emotional needs of others, as well as our own. At the same time, as much as we are still mulling over certain aspects of life, we begin to realize that though our heart may continue to fumble over what it is we want and need – our mind has already made its decision. As Pluto also aspects both the Sun and Midheaven, we are urged to confront the issues hidden beneath the surface and to begin the mental preparation needed to face whatever fears still stand in the way of completing the metamorphosis we are currently undergoing.
